    Through turn 3 Tapper on the outside begins to move to the inside of the track unaware of Fernandez on his inside. Contact between the two results in a multi-car incident and 2 retirements.

    Fernandez loses control of the car and spins on pit entry. He proceeds to drive several metres in the wrong direction before reversing in the inside wall and blocking the pit entry close to the corner of turn 17. Mason has nowhere to go and hits Fernandez when entering the pits.
