After his podium in Germany Matt Maple showed all his potential by displaying a talented driving performance to acquire pole in the Hungarian qualifying session. Matt left Mikko Jakonen 2 tenth away from pole in last seconds of the session.

Also Toby Lock had a good session, ending in very good 8th place and making JTM the second team behind Mapes-VO.

This result is very important for a relaxed team principal, Juan Tortella, who was very happy at the end of the day.

He said, "Today was another historic day for JTM acquiring the first pole of the team's career. Matt did well again and Toby also, despite practically not knowing the car, has a good starting position for the upcoming race". The team knows that this was only qualifying, and the race probably will be very tough, but they are confident that both drivers will finish with points.

Maple was in good spirits after taking pole for the Grand Prix. He added, "Its great to be on pole, I'm very happy as its only my 2nd Grand Prix in the team, Juan has made me very welcome and now I have my best buddy racing alongside me. It's looking good for the race, but anything in the top 6 will be great. I'm off for a well deserved vacation now and good luck to everyone in the race! Especially Toby!"

Toby Lock, the debutant at the team, also made comments about the session. "I certainly didn't expect to get into the 12's at the beginning of the session, my fastest time being a late 15. To improve by 2.5 seconds in 2 days is excellent, and I'm just hoping for a finish in the race. After all, who expects the new guy to do anything of any real significance in his first race?!"
