SCUM has seen the highs and lows of the F1 circus before, but never like what they had to endure in Sepang for qualifying.

Matt Hunt's car rolled off the trailer and onto the track showing great pace right from the start. He was putting in consistently quick laps with race fuel onboard, and finished the day in an excellent sixth position. The whole team was ecstatic with his performance and rumours of a contract for Matt to join the SCUM team still seem to be running around the paddock.

Rab Harding's car on the other hand, rolled off the truck and wouldn't start. Everything was changed from the CPU to the tyres and it still would not kick over, which meant Rab missed the first practise session. Having never raced at this track before, it was a big disappointment to Rab and the rest of the team.

With ten minutes left of the second practise session to go, the car finally fired up. Rab left the pits and managed to do half a lap before the engine died going down the back straight and he just rolled into the pits. The problem seemed to be a faulty batch of CPU chips that Dan Regan had picked up on his way over to Malaysia.

With the problem solved, Rab's car was fired up for qualifying. But not ever having driven a lap in anger around the track, it was quite a new experience to find braking markers and turn in points in just one lap.

But the team is looking forward to a great race from Matt and a very busy race from Rab.
