Intro:

Hello and welcome to follow the ultimate qualifying of the season, Grand Prix de Monaco. This is the 6th round of the 2004 Formula One Virtual World Championship series. Scott Whiteman dominated the first 3 races but in two last events his race has ended with technical problems on his EIRE car and Mikko Jakonen has taken the championship lead with his steady progress on each race and without single DNF so far. Jakonen has 12 point lead to Whiteman who is on 30 points. FinOz driver Steve Elencevski holds the 3rd place with 22 points and Petri Loukasmäki, team mate of Jakonen is just 3 points behind Steve on 4th place. Shiro Ryong has 17 points and Paul Sleight and Daniel Wilkinson is right behind Ryong with 16 points. On teams Championship Mapes-VO leads with 61 points. 2nd placed EIRE has 35 points so Mapes-VO has massive 26 points lead at this time and with such strong driver line-up it looks hard to catch Mapes-VO, but anything can happen. FinOz Racing is in 3rd place with 30 points. Phoenix F1 had very good Monaco GP where they scored 12 points and that made their total tally to 26 and 4th place on standings. SCUM and MMC Racing have 18 and 17 points. But the Qualifying sessions is ready to start now with first car coming out of the pits. Weather is perfect for this qualifying session and Michelin tire using teams is believed to have advantage over Bridgestone users. This can be one factor for this qualifying and upcoming race. Also dry and sunny weather is expected for the race day.

Lap around the track:

?A lap of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit starts on the pit straight, which has a gentle curve to the right along its entire length. You reach about 280kph in top gear before braking hard as the track inclines for the infamous tight, bumpy, right of Sainte Devoite, which is a virtual 90-degree corner taken at 80kph in second gear and is usually the scene of first corner incidents.?

?Accelerating up the Beau Rivage climb, your speed reaches 280kph in top gear as you approach the long left of Massanet, which is negotiated at about 140kph in third. Keeping close to the inside curb through Massanet, you dab the brakes slightly for the bumpy right of Casino Square, which is taken at 130kph, still in third.?

?A burst of acceleration follows, reaching some 210kph in fourth gear on the downhill approach to the bumpy right-hander of Mirabeau. Keeping tight to the right as you reach the hairpin, you shift down through the gears to take Mirabeau at 80kph in second gear. This is a possible overtaking opportunity.?

?A short spurt of gas takes you to the Grand Hotel Hairpin, the tightest, slowest corner on the circuit, which requires full lock to negotiate it and sees the track continue to plunge downhill and your speed drop to below 45kph in first gear.?

?Two sharp right handers follow both in second gear, with a maximum speed of 90kph, the second of which leads you to the entrance to the Tunnel. You have to be careful here as the armco on the exit is not straight. Pushing hard on the throttle, you sweep through the covered right-hand curve, which is the only flat out section of the track. You reach the maximum speed on the circuit, 280kph in seventh, as you burst back out into daylight by the sea wall.?

?Braking hard for the left-right Nouvelle chicane, your speed drops to 50kph, before accelerating out along the run to Tabac. This fast left-hander is taken at 140kph in third. Entering the swimming pool complex, your speed increases to just over 200kph in fourth gear for the first section of the left-right kink, before braking to negotiate the slower, revised section, which now sees a tighter entrance, at 110kph.?

?Another short period of acceleration follows as you continue along the harbour front, which sees you reach 180kph in third on the approach to the Rascasse. This sharp, right-hand hairpin, which poses a difficult braking manoeuvre as you swing round 180 degrees is taken at 50kph in first gear. A short uphill straight leads to the final corner, which is taken in second at 70kph, before accelerating up the hill along the pit straight to start another lap.?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group 1:

(Nieuwlaar, Keersmaekers, Brown, Cummings, Regan)

Nieuwlaar

Phoenix F1

Mark Nieuwlaar starts his qualifying lap and he will set the first target for the rest of the 22 cars pack. Through Ste Devote and uphill to Casino square and into Massenet and to Casino corner, he looks smooth but how fast is he? Now down the hill and he completes the first sector, 21.184 that's good, low 21 on under 21 seconds should be good as first sector time. Nieuwlaar makes it into slow Grand Hotel Hairpin and into Portier corners and now he is heading into tunnel. Small lock-up under braking into chicane, bounces over the curbs and completes the 2nd sector 50.107. Tabac and into Swimming pool complex, Piscine corners. And now into Rascasse and to final corner Anthony Noghes corner and into start finish straight to complete the lap. Good, clean run from the Dutch driver and his lap time is 1:16.692 we have to wait a while to see how good it actually is and how high he will end up on this qualifying session.

Nieuwlaar Finish Line 1

1:16.692

Keersmaekers

Woods Racing

Next driver is also newcomer as race driver Vincent Keersmaerkers who replaced Willy Ponissi at the Woods Racing. Keersmaerkers did superb job at last official F1VWC testing session at France where he topped 2nd day test times. But back to this sesssion as he is now already at the Casino corner and down the hill into Mirabeau corner. First sector time is 21.045 seconds and he is slightly faster than Nieuwlaar was... now into Loews hairpin? sorry Grand Hotel hairpin, it just was so long called Loews hairpin before the name changed as hotel changed it's name to Grand Hotel, so i might be talking about Loews hairpin as most of you still remember is named Loews on Grand Hotel. Now into Portier and then to tunnel, through chicane and he driving looks to be very smooth i have to say and smoothness is very important at tracks like Monaco is. With aggressive style you can't do good lap time here you have to be very smooth and let the car do all the work. 2nd sector time 49.493 that's very good and he is now over 6 tenths in front of Nieuwlaars time. If he can keep it clean he will take p1 from Phoenix F1 driver. Rasvasse and Anthony Noghes corners without mistakes and over the line he goes and he takes p1 with 1:15.641 than can get him high position on the grid I'm quite sure about that as he was just over 1 seconds faster than Nieuwlaar just did. But what are the tactics and when first pit stops are made?

Keersmaekers Finish Line 1

1:15.641 -1.051

Brown

Simsoa

Brown is back behind the wheel of Simsoa car. Brown did the first 4 events but was replaced at the Monaco GP by Kieran Ryan. Now Ryan is driving the other Simsoa car as Brown now replaced Aparicio, confused? I know I am? The fact is at Monaco Simsoa cars will be driven by Kieran Ryan and David Brown, it will be interesting to see who will be behind the wheel at the next grand prix at Nürburgring. That's not our worry now as Brown has to worry not to hit the armco's at the Casino Square. On the right side of the track is the famous Café de Paris where you can buy one of the most expensive coffee or bottle of coca-cola. If you order the coke you might think you get the normal 0.33 litre bottle, but you are wrong, it's smaller only 0.25 litres, and cost a fortune. While I was talking about price of Coca-cola at Café de Paris Brown completed the first sector and his time was 21.399 seconds, that's 0.354 seconds slower than Keersmaekers did. 2nd sector time was 49.903, he didn't loose much over the section and now trails by 4 tenths of a seconds and he is faster than Nieuwlaar was, so this could be p2 for Brown? Over the line he goes and yes indeed he goes to 2nd, 1:16.6 is the lap time nearly one second off Keersmaekers time but beats Nieuwlaar by 92 thousands.

Brown Finish Line 2

1:16.600 +0.959

Cummings

Puma F1

If Brown was back behind the wheel of Simsoa so is Dave Cummings, but he is not back behind the wheel of Simsoa, but Puma F1. So Puma F1 cars will be driven by Andreas "Qual Hotlap" Wagner and Dave Brown as Marek Liolias has stepped down as race driver? for this event at least. Again it will be interesting to see the entry list for European GP for this team also. 1st sector 21.989 seconds and he is nearly 1 seconds off the fastest time there. 2nd sector time is 52.008, he lost quite much time at the slow corners of Loews and Portier. 2.5 seconds off the fastest time and is now so far behind Nieuwlaar, Cummings will go to 4th of 4 drivers? 1:19.751, 4.1 seconds slower Keersmaeker, but it's the race which is the important one, with steady trouble free at the race you can end up quite high on the results list.

Cummings Finish Line 4

1:19.751 +4.110

Regan

SCUM

To complete the first group of 5 cars and to complete the list of new drivers first of the SCUM cars will be next up with Dan Regan behind the wheel, so from the original Peter Harding - Matt Hunt pair team has gone to Shiro Ryong and Dan Regan pair just on 6 races. Sometimes it's hard to keep up who is driving and on what team. But we try to manage somehow. 1st sector for Regan is 22.340 seconds and that's already 1.3 seconds slower than Keersmaekers did and 3 tenths off Cummings time also. 2nd sector for Regan 51.661 seconds, that's better than Cummings just did and while he trails the Keersmaekers sector time by almost 2.2 seconds he is now 3 tenths in front of Cummings, so can he take 4th place at the end of the lap? Trough Rascasse and Anthony Noghes corner nice and clean with wings and wheel all attached to the car as they should? and over the line he goes to take the 4th place from Cummings. 1:19.661, that's 4 seconds off P1 time but good for 4th at the moment.

Regan Finish Line 4

1:19.661 +4.020

So after first group the order is Keersmaekers, Brown, Nieuwlaar, Regan and Cummings. Still 16 drivers to do their lap, well will be right back after this short break, don't go away!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group 2:

(Whiteman, Mihailovic, Sleight, Loram, Forausberger)

Welcome back to live coverage of this years Monaco Grand Prix qualifying session. Still few moments before we get the next driver to start his hotlap. He will be Scott Whiteman on EIRE Jaguar.

Whiteman

EIRE

Whiteman is already approaching the 1st sector point while the director was showing something else from the pitlane and missed first 15 seconds of Whiteman's lap. Car looks to be like clued into track at the Casino corner and first sector time is 20.936 seconds and he is first one to go under 21 seconds on first sector. With that time he is just 1 tenths quicker than current leader Keersmaekers. Whiteman uses all the track at Portier corner, he gets very good exit to into tunnel "straight" if you can call it straight as actually there is quite tight corner at the tunnel itself. It may not look like tight corner, but you try to take it 250kmh flat out. Smooth braking into chicane and nicely over the curbs, this looks to be quick one. 49.004 into 2nd split time and he is nearly 0.5 seconds in front now. Can he go under 1:15? Keersmaekers time was 15.641? one minute 15.641 seconds of course. Oh small lock-up at the Rascasse, and maybe a bit wide entry into corner, did he loose time there? Over the line 1:15.155 he can't go under 1:15 but still takes the p1 by nearly 0.5 seconds, he didn't gain nor loose time compared to Keersmaekers on last sector. Looking the sector times Keersmaekers was 3 thousands of a seconds quicker on last sector, so Whiteman makes new sector records only for 1st and 2nd sectors, but it was once again very impressive looking lap from him.

Whiteman Finish Line 1

1:15.155 -0.486

Mihailovic

MMRT

Next car on the track is Miodrag Mihailovic on his MMRT outfit. Mihailovic's average qual position is 14.6 so far, But what can he do now? 1st sector time 21.344 and he is 4 tenths down on Whiteman's pace and also Nieuwlaar was 0.150 seconds quicker through there, so if he can't pick up the speed on last two sectors he goes to 5th I would say. 2nd sector time is 50.274 he has slightly picked up the speed compared to Nieuwlaar as he is now 0.140 seconds of that time but 1.27 seconds off Whiteman's pace, can he take 4th place from Nieuwlaar? Rascasse and into last corner, he goes over the line and? he goes 5th, he lost some more time to Nieuwlaar and lap time 1:17.078 is 1.9 seconds off Whiteman's time.

Mihailovic Finish Line 5

1:17.078 +1.923

Sleight

MMC Racing

Next driver is Paul Sleight and MMC Racing BMW. Sleight span of the track at Monaco GP and had to retire there, now it's interesting to see can he challenge Whiteman's P1 here at Monaco. 1st sector 21.139 and he is just over 2 tenths off Whiteman's sector time. Did Whiteman lap time which will hold to the end of qualifying? We have to remember Whiteman has started 3 times from the pole this year so his time really can be the fastest again. Sleight's average qual position is 8.8 but if we don't look the Monaco GP qual where he was disqualified his average before that was 5.75 and he was on the pole at the season opener at Melbourne. But back to this qualifying session and Sleight completes the 2nd sector and his time is 49.348 he is now over 3 tenths off Whiteman's time but he is now in front of Keersmaekers time so this could be p2 for him? Final corner and over the line he goes and he goes to 3rd place, Keersmaekers holds the p2 1:15.669 and Sleight is 0.5 seconds slower than Whiteman. Keersmaekers had good final sector as Sleight lost 0.173 seconds there.

Sleight Finish Line 3

1:15.669 +0.514

Loram

EIRE

Ross Loram starts his qualifying lap and oh already at the first corner Ste Devote braking, he locks up the right front tire and it was close he didn't hit the wall, that must have cost him time. Now he goes up the hill to Casino square through Massenet and Casino corners now into downhill and to Mirabeau corner first sector 21.546 and he is over 6 tenths off Whiteman's time, that lock-up at Ste Devote was costly. Now he goes into tunnel and out again, hard on the brakes from nearly 300kmh speed to the chicane. It will be interesting to see what his sector time is 49.655 and he is now 0.651 seconds of Whiteman's sector time. Now into last sector Keersmaekers was few tenths quicker on 2nd split time point and Sleight was one tenth quicker than Kerrsmaekers, so it will be hard to catch them but he could go to 4th in front of Nieuwlaar. Over the line he goes and yes, he goes to 4th, 1:16.282, just over 1.1 seconds slower than pole time.

Loram Finish Line 4

1:16.282 +1.127

Forausberger

MMRT

Cristian Forausberger and 2nd of MMRT cars is next up. Forausberger's teammate Miodrag Mihailovic is currently on 6th place 1.9 seconds off Whiteman's pole time. Mihailovic has been faster of MMRT driver on every qualifying so far, but can Cristian make it 5 to 1 after Monaco qual? 1st sector for Cristian is 22.232 seconds, that's nearly 1.3 seconds off Whiteman's time and Mihailovic's time was 21.344 so looks like he can't beat his team mate at the Monaco either. We don't know what kind of pit stop strategies teams and drivers are using, are MMRT driver's starting the race on different strategy and Forausberger running on very heavy car? 2nd sector for Cristian is 52.051 and he is now 3 seconds off Whiteman's time, but now in front of Regan by 1 tenth. Dan Regan is currently on 8th place. Oh? big lock-up at the Rascasse entry that must cost him some time because he has to slow the car right down to even make it around the corner and not to hit the outside wall. Over the line and lap time is 1:20.310 he lost 2.1 seconds more on last sector and loses out to Regan and to Cummings also and goes to 10th at the moment. Not a good last sector from him at all...

Forausberger Finish Line 10

1:20.310 +5.155

So after 10 cars the order is Whiteman, Keersmaekers, Sleight, Loram, Brown, Nieuwlaar, Mihailovic, Regan, Cummings and Forausberger completing the top-10. Don't go away, we will be right back.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group 3:

(Maple, Goodley, Wagner, Lock, McConkey, Koski)

Welcome back to follow Monaco GP qualifying live with 2 groups gone and 2 to go.

3rd group, six cars, Maple, Goodley, Wagner, Lock, McConkey and Koski. So we see 3 Ferrari engine powered car on the track on this group.

Maple

JTM

Matt Maple starts his qualifying lap and after not so successful season so far I'm sure everybody hopes JTM drivers will have better race here at Monaco. 1st sector for Matt doesn't look to be very positive 21.791 and he is already 0.855 seconds off Whiteman's sector time. Now into tunnel section and into that chicane where you can make or loose time as braking down the hill is tricky and with good car you can bounce over the curbs quite hard there. 2nd sector time is 50.491 and Maple is almost 1.5 seconds behind now. He is few tenths slower than Mihailovic, but clearly faster than Regan was so maybe 8th place for the Briton? Last corners goes nice and cleanly and JTM goes over the line, 1:17.474 yes indeed he goes to 8th with 2.3 seconds slower lap time than Whiteman.

Maple Finish Line 8

1:17.474 +2.319

Goodley

Woods Racing

Next driver on the track is Chris Goodley on 2nd Woods Racing Toyota cars. Team mate Vincent Keermaekers is still on superb 2nd place. Goodley has been close to the top-10 place on the qualifyings but 20th place at the close grid at Austria and Spanish qualifying disqualification drops his average position down to 16.2. 1st sector to Goodley and hey look at that! 20.909 and he is faster than Whiteman! 27 thousands but still faster, this reminds me of Wagner's suprise lap at San Marino. 2nd sector for Goodley is 49.421, he has now dropped behind some 4 tenths to Whiteman but good stuff still. Now into final corners and over the line he goes to take 4th place! 1:15.676 and only 0.521 seconds to Whiteman and look at that he lost to Sleight by 7 thousands of a second. Whiteman, Keersmaekers, Sleight and Goodley is the top-4 now.

Goodley Finish Line 4

1:15.676 +0.521

Wagner

Puma F1

Will we see another hotlap from Wagner and can he challenge the top places on his Puma F1? 1st sector time for the Swiss driver is? 21.392, I have to say no this time nearly 0.5 seconds off Whiteman's time, it's still good sector time, but last two qualifying we have seen minus on the difference at this point. Now into the chicane and over the line to complete the 2nd sector? 50.278 and Wagner lost 8 tenths more and now trails by 1.274 seconds. 50.3 sector time is close to Mihailovic's time and just faster what Maple did. Mihailovic is currently on 8th place, this time you don't hear me saying "Look at that, Wagner goes to p1" now into final corner and quickly over the line to complete the lap, 1:17.043 and he goes to 8th in front of Mihailovic and Maple. 1.888 seconds to Whiteman, maybe we are back to "normal" length 1st stint at the Puma team.

Wagner Finish Line 8

1:17.043 +1.888

Lock

JTM

Toby Lock and 2nd of JTM cars. Team mate Matt Maple is currently on 10th place after, humm, not so fast lap I would say. But what can Lock do? 1st sector time is? 21.446, that just over 0.5 seconds slower the leader Whiteman did, but over 3 tenths quicker than Maple did, this could be also down to strategy issues at the JTM team, at Monaco you have as many strategies as there are drivers, some might be going on 2 stop strategy where some might like to have a go with 4 stops. What direction will the gap go at the 2nd sector? Time is 50.056, he is just over 1 seconds off Whiteman's pace and 4 tenths in front of Maple. Niewulaar did 50.1 and Brown 49.9 so somewhere around 7th or 8th place maybe? Over the line goes the JTM car and Lock stops the clock to time of 1:16.715, that's 1.5 seconds slower the pole time by Whiteman and good for 8th place. Team mate Maple was beaten by over 7 tenths.

Lock Finish Line 8

1:16.715 +1.560

McConkey

MMC Racing

Ryan McConkey is next up, as JTM drivers McConkey hasn't had the season most expect him to have if we look the results and standings, we have to go way down to 14th place at the drivers list to find McConkey with 1 single point from Malaysian GP. Team mate Paul Sleight is 3rd at the moment can McConkey match Paul's lap time? 1st sector indicates he can't as 21.420 is nearly 0.5 seconds off Whiteman's time but also nearly 3 tenths slower than Sleight did. There is still nearly 60 seconds to do and many corners to gain, or loose, time so we have to wait till the end of the lap to be sure. 2nd sector time is 49.859, he is now over 8 tenths off Whiteman's time and over 0.5 seconds off his team mate time. Let's see 49.8 that's faster than Brown, Nieuwlaar or Lock and Brown is currently on 6th place. But oh big big lock-up at the Rascasse as we have seen few others to do that also, that will cost him time and also that can cost him few places. McConkey goes over the line and yes? he takes 9th place and loses out to Brown, Nieuwlaar and Lock. 1:16.988 is 1.8 seconds off the pole time and 1.3 seconds slower than team mate Sleight did. I don't think Ryan will be very happy for that, specially for the last sector time.

McConkey Finish Line 9

1:16.988 +1.833

Koski

FinOz Racing

Now last car on 3rd group. Blue'n'White car of FinOz Racing team. FinOz had good test at the France on the official F1VWC test meeting and they were quietly optimistic for this race, although it's first ever Monaco GP for them and at Monaco experience is very important. Anyway Koski starts his flying lap and heads up the hill into Massenet corner and now into Casino right hander. Oh? big slide there than can cost him time if he took his foot from the gas. 1st sector time is? 21.184, he is 0.248 seconds down on Whiteman's time, hard to say did that slide cost him time after all. 2nd sector and into chicane, car bounces on the curbs and Koski fights to keep it under control, 2nd sector time is 49.850, he lost quite much time there, was it the chicane or did he make some small mistake at the Loews or Portier? 49.8 as 2nd sector time? Brown did 49.9 and Brown is still on 6th place. Nice and clean through Piscine and Rascasse. Now into last corner and hard on the gas and over the line. 1:16.169 Koski takes 6th place by nearly a 0.5 seconds, very good last sector for him. 1.014 seconds gap to Whiteman who still holds the p1 with 6 drivers to go.

Koski Finish Line 6

1:16.169 +1.014

So after 3rd group Whiteman still leads, but there are still drivers like Steve Elencevski and Spanish GP winner Mikko Jakonen still to do their qual runs. Top-6 at the moment is Whiteman, Keersmaekers, Sleight, Goodley, Loram, Koski

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome back to follow Monaco GP qualifying session. Last set of 6 driver are ready to make their qualifying runs.

Group 4:

(Elencevski, Ryan, Irisarri, Ryong, Loukasmäki, Jakonen)

Elencevski

FinOz Racing

Last driver at 3rd group was FinOz and final 4th group is started by 2nd of FinOz driver, Steve Elencevski. Can Steve challenge Whiteman's pole time as he did at Imola few weeks ago or will Whiteman hold on the p1 after Steve's lap too? Koski just did a lap which put him to 6th so it's for sure? both FinOz cars wont start from 2 front rows to Monaco GP like they have done in last 4 races before this one. 1st sector is underway for Steve and sector time is 21.457, that's already over 0.5 seconds slower than Whiteman's sector time, so I think Whiteman's p1 will be safe for this lap too. Kari did 21.2 on first sector so Steve is over 2 tenths behind to that too. 2nd sector time 49.865, he lost 3 tenths more to Whiteman but as Kari lost 6 tenths they are now almost on same time, to be exact Kari is still in front by 0.015 seconds. Steve is really flying at the swimming pool chicane, car looks so smooth there, now into Rascasse, good entry there and short straight into final corner. Cleanly through there and over the line and Steve takes p6 from his teammate 1:15.968. He had faster final sector than Whiteman and closes the gap down from 0.861 seconds to 0.813. But no FinOz cars on 2 front rows for this years Monaco GP.

Elencevski Finish Line 6

1:15.968 +0.813

Ryan

Simsoa

Lawrence Simpson was very happy team owner after Spanish GP where Kieran Ryan scored teams first points of the season, can Kieran pull out something extra special at the challenging Monaco track? Car looks to be like clued to the track at the first corners and he is approaching the Mirabeau corner to complete the 1st sector. Time is? 20.938 he is just 2 thousands of a seconds off Whiteman's time there, this looks to be a quick lap. Smoothly round the Loews hairpin and Portier with good exit speed into tunnel section. Hard on the brakes to Chicane and he gets the car nicely into chicane and quickly to line to shoot it out to the short straight before Tabac corner. 2nd sector time is? 48.922 he goes under 49 seconds! And is now in front of Whiteman's time by 82 thousands! This is great stuff from Kieran. Whole Simsoa team is looking the monitors just waiting to see where Kieran ends up on the results list. Swimming pool chicane and now into Rascasse, car turns in very nicely and Kieran accelerates into final corner and quickly out of there into start finish straight, can he take p1 from Whiteman? YES HE CAN Kieran Ryan takes pole from Whiteman and he goes under 1min15seconds 1:14.974 and we have new leader by 0.181 seconds! Great lap and there is big joy at the Simsoa team. But we have still 4 drivers to left.

Ryan Finish Line 1

1:14.974 -0.181

Irisarri

Phoenix F1

Antonio Irisarri and 2nd of Phoenix F1 cars. Irisarri's team mate for this weekend, Mark Nieuwlaar is currently is currently on 12th place. 1st sector for Irisarri is 21.085 seconds, he is 0.147 seconds off the new leader Kieran Ryan's pace. 21.1 is good sector time as Irisarri now heads into tunnel to soon complete the 2nd sector already. Through chicane nicely and his 2nd sector time is 49.536 he has lost 0.5 seconds to Ryan and is now 0.614 seconds behind but team mate Nieuwlaar was nearly 6 tenths slower after 2 sectors. Goodley did 49.4 and Elencevski had 49.8 as their 2nd sector times, Goodley is currently 5th and Elencevski is 6th. Now into final corners from Rascasse into final corner and to start finish straight with out any drama. Irisarri goes over the line in time of 1:15.971 and he goes to 7th between FinOz drivers. Irisarri just couldn't match Steve's final sector time and lost to the Australian by 3 thousands of a seconds! 3 thousands? wow that's absolutely nothing.

Irisarri Finish Line 7

1:15.971 +0.997

Ryong

SCUM

3 to go and Kieran Ryan holds the lead. Shiro Ryong starts his Qualifying lap and after Ryong there will be only 2 Mapes-VO cars left. Up the fill to Massenet and from the to Casino corner. Ryong looks very smooth and uses every inch of the track. 20.847 he is almost 1 tenths quicker than Ryan! But oh? the same time he locks up the wheel into Mirabeau and just got a bit wide there. Loews hairpin and into Portier? small mistake there too? Sounded like he couldn't get into the gas as quickly as he must have hoped for, some understeer there and didn't want to end up into that wall and had to lift of for a while. Trough chicane to complete the 2nd sector? what the time will be? 49.374 he has lost his advantage to Ryan and lost it in big time, the is 0.452 seconds behind now, so looks like Ryan and Whiteman holds their front row positions and actally Vincent Keersmaekers isn't that far behind either. Keersmaekers sector time was 49.4 and looking the sector times more also Sleight did 49.3 and Goodley had 49.4 so it's very open where Ryong will end up it's all now how the car works on final sector. Into Rascasse, he gets the car in nicely and now into final corner and over the line he goes to take? 3rd place. 1:15.489, good last sector for Ryong and Keersmaekers, Goodley and Slight all drops one place down with 2 driver to go.

Loukasmäki

Mapes-VO

2 to go? to be exact 2 Mapes-VO drivers to go? 2 Finns to go, will Ryan hold on to p1, can he take Monaco Grand Prix pole? Or will it go to either one of Mapes-VO drivers? Jakonen hasn't been very high on the grids on the earlier races this season so if it will either one of Mapes-VO driver I would say it will be Jakonen, but as said? Monaco is something so special and almost anything can happen here. Loukasmäki's first sector is 21.746 he is way of he pace, over 8 tenths already and that's quite lot after 21 seconds of driving, but the 2nd sector time will show what direction the gap will develop. We have seen Loukasmäki down on the qualifying speed earlier but at the race he has bounced right back to points as he has used heavier car on qualifying than most others and even one stop less than the fastest drivers at the qualifying, this can be the case again It's so hard to say what the teams have planned. 2nd sector time for Petri is 49.928 he lost only 2 tenths to Ryan so did he make mistake on 1st sector? Or why he did lose so much time on that sector? I didn't notice anything, but maybe there were some small mistake somewhere which cost him some time. Now into Rascasse and no problems there, next to Anthony Noghes corner and to start finish straight to complete the lap. His lap time is 1:16.471 and he goes to 12th place nearly 1.5 seconds of Ryan's lap time.

Jakonen

Mapes-VO

So it's now down to Jakonen will Kieran Ryan start from the pole to the Monaco Grand Prix or will Mikko Jakonen take his first pole of the season? Will Whiteman be on front row? Mikko is the champ leader and he will lead the champ after Monaco also even if he doesn't get single point from here. But I'm sure Mikko wants to make it 3 wins in a row and open up the championship lead even more. As Jakonen starts his flying lap we have some information that stewards are looking the Ross Loram's and Petri Loukasmäki's laps for some reason. More news about that when we hear, but lets concentrate now to Mikko's lap to see who will take the pole. 1st sector 21.061 that's good, not as good as Ryan did as it's 0.123 seconds slower but that's not much. Now into 2nd sector and Loews and Portier? in there corners taking it too carefully you can lose much time, but also taking it with too big risk it's so easy to touch a wall and bend suspension arm or loose front wing, it doesn't take much to make damage
