A newcomer at MMC Racing takes Pole, 2nd goes to the Championship challenger, and 3rd to a returnee giving his team their best Qualifying of 2004! You couldn't script this kind of stuff!!

Pole - Shane Cotter (MMC Racing - BMW)

Fantastic result Shane, in your first F1VWC race of 2004. How did it go?

Very well thanks Toby, not a perfect lap, but enough for me to be near the front, I didn't expect pole.

Can you contest for race victory with equally strong competition behind you?

Why not? So long as I keep it on the road I'll be in with a shout for sure.

Although you are currently only a replacement driver for McConkey, can >you put in a performance worthy of gaining a perminant drive?

Not at the moment, time issue really, but I can see myself having a few races at F1VWC every now and then.

All the best for the Race.

Cheers hope I speak to you again after the race!

2nd - Scott Whiteman (EIRE - Jaguar)

Well done Scott, 2nd place here in Canada, how did it go?

Not much time at all on track this week, but the car just felt great and i was able to record this lap quickly, which is important when you have real life things (exams) to do.

Strategy is very important here, are you confident in your setup and fuel load?

The car is quite heavy, and the handling will only improve as the fuel comes out and my track time increases.

The Phoenix team look very strong here, with Joe in 3rd and Wilko never to be underestimated, and debutant Cotter on pole, where is the main threat coming from?

It's hard to go past Mikko's consistency and the powerhouse in the M-VO car around this track, but be assured i'll be pressing the EIRE to the limit, there is a lot on the line here.

Well back on the podium in Europe and now qualifying 2nd in Canada, any plans to return to the cricket nets any time soon?

Hehe he!!

3rd - Joe Consiglio (Phoenix F1 - Renault)

Welcome back Joe! Obviously none of your speed has been lost since your last appearance for Stealth GP in 2003! How did your lap go?

Thanks, It feels good to be back! I've seen plenty of old and new faces this weekend which is nice and the competition is as tough as ever. As for the lap it was pretty clean, I just slightly outbraked myself at the hairpin, this probably cost me a tenth or two but I'm pleased with 3rd here today. Also congratulations to Shane on a great debut performance.

You are partnering Wilko here this weekend, the team must be feeling very confident before the race?

Daniel is a great driver and its been nice working with him so far this weekend. Hopefully we can both give Andy (Graydon) and the team a good result tomorrow. I like this track a lot, I was 3rd here in 2002 for Stealth GP. That was actually the first podium of my career so I'd obviously like to be up there again. I'm happy with my strategy so if I can get a good start and stay out of trouble during the race a similar result should be possible.

You won't be with the F1VWC circuit at the US GP, can we expect to see you at other races in 2004?

Yes if all goes to plan I should be racing for Phoenix F1 in late August and September time.
