Championship Manager, Dan Lawrence, caught up with Roaldo Racing team manager, Roald Reurink, just after the Malaysian Grand Prix for a short interview in which Reurink shows that he has matured as a person over the last few months.

Hi Roald.

Hi Dan.

How do you feel to have one of your drivers on the podium today?

Its very exciting. I never thought we could manage a top 3 position. Ton is a wonderful driver, but not all the glory is for Ton, also to Bruno, he scored a valuable point for Roaldo Racing!

How did the race go for Roaldo Racing?

Very good. We practised much on our Pitstops, so they were very quick. Ton was a little bit nervous with Dan Pyrik behind him, but I told Ton to stay clam and so he did. We thought Bruno would be last, but with many cars failed to start he scored a point.

Are you please with the AMT - Asiatech engine?

We are very happy with AMT. If you look at the Malaysia Qualification you will see that 3 cars with the AMT engine are in the top 7. AMT is a strong motor, but we will upgrade it more and more during the season.

Ton Hoek is a strong driver. Will he stay with Roaldo Racing for a long time?or are you looking for other drivers for 2002?

Ton and I have known each other for almost a year, we are good friends. When I offered Ton a contract he agreed, but we could only give him a contract for 1 year.. so we dont know if he will stay, thats his decision. I know the top teams will give it a try to get Ton, but so will we!

How is the whole team getting on? Does everyone like each other? are their any arguments?

Roaldo Racing is a "family". We are friends, but sometimes we argue, thats normal. Arguments are just a human nature, so you cant avoid it.

What do you hope to acheive in the next few races? Also what do you hope to acheive altogether in 2001?

With this result I hope that Ton will go on with his results. Ton will share his setups with Bruno, so maybe Bruno can get a second faster. I hope that both drivers will race with the first 10. What do I want to achieve in 2001? Thats simple, like every other team, score as much points. I also want it to be a fun thing, not just that you must race.

Which part of the car will you try to improve at the first OFFICIAL test session? and why?

I dont know when the official tests are, but I am hoping to hear soon. We still must sign a test driver, if we do, we have 3 drivers and 3 cars. So we can test on engine, reliability and our chassis. We must upgrade our engine, because its slower than the other cars.

What does competing in the GPVWC mean to you?

It means work, but exspecially fun. Its very exciting to see the results and see how your team is doing. I must thank Joost Jonk, he brought me to this league. He is a good friend, but its a shame he isn't driving this year, because of bad grades at school.

Is it hard running a team in the GPVWC?

Yes, you must chose the right options. You must be online very much, to support your drivers and congratulate them with his victory. Its hard, but Geert and I work things out, the drivers must do the rest.

Finally, what are your strengths as a team manager?

I think my main strength is that I want to be the best, so I will do anything to get better. My drivers and Geert will tell you my weaknesses, because I dont know them.
