CVRT held a press conference earlier today to announce 2 new drivers.

Richard Dickson will replace Darren White in Imola while new GPVWC driver, Stefan Gordon, has been recruited as test/devolpment driver for the Australian based GPVWC F1 team.

Darren White will not continue on with CVRT, after a poor performance yet again in Brazil.

Chris Connolly - CVRT BMW Team Manager

In Australia Darren was unfortunate to suffer from a problem where his total race time was not logged correctly by the timing beams. This gave Darren an un-real time, and he was shown in the results at the back of the grid.

Malaysia was another headache, where Darren qualified last out of the qualifiers with more problems adapting to the Malaysia track. He did not participate in the race. Brazil was even worse, as for the first time, Darren didn't even qualify, but this was not his fault, he did complete a lap, which would have placed him around 13th or 14th on the grid, but his timing sensor on his car yet again failed.

Darren is now unable to compete in the race, and it would have been very difficult to anyway, as he now has a full time job which takes up a lot of time. Because of these problems, Darren has left the CVRT team.

I am glad to announce that Richard Dickson will participate in the rest of the season with CVRT. This is such a great move, as now I have two drivers who are fighting for the championship, and at this stage of the season, I could never pick a winner. Richard has participated at Malaysia as a fill in for Jason Endean, and finished very strong. In Brazil, Richard signed a 1 race deal with DPI, and qualified on the front row of the grid alongside Ton Hoek. He is racing with a complete new carl, and already, can qualify so strong. He is over a full second faster than his qualifying efforts last year in Interlagos. I am very hopeful that I have signed a true talent, and I think I have just increased CVRT's chances of a Drivers Championship and a Constructors Championship.

I am also very pleased to announce that Stefen Gordan will join the CVRT team as a Test Driver.

After talks with him, I have decided that he will be the best driver for the job, and will show a high level of committment in being able to participate when asked to in the GPVWC Official Test sessions, which are near certain to being after the Brazilian GP. With the help of Stefen, I hope to increase the performance of the CVRT car in specific areas throughout the year.

We can now take the challenge up to DL Racing and BA Racing!

Richard Dickson - New CVRT Driver

"The decision [to return to CVRT] came about after the team manager of DPI sent a provisional list of drivers for the rest of the season. Due to a level of unhappiness at the list I have decided to drive for DPI at Brazil only and move to the well established racing outfit of CVRT."

"I just now hope that from San Marino I can help Christian in his efforts to get the team the Constructor's crown again, and hopefully challenge him for the Driver's Championship, although at the moment I will be happy to gain experience and get good points! The guy is fast and no doubt about it! It will take a while before we will be playing on the same par".

Stefan Gordon - New CVRT Test Driver

"It's great to become test driver for such a great team."

"It's a big leap for me from being test driver at Target-BMW in the Grand Prix Gamer series, and I hope that being a test driver this year will (hopefully) land me a drive with a team in the 2002 season. Many thanks to Chris Connolly for giving me this great oppotunity to be a part of his team. I'll do whatever I can to be a great test driver."

"I'd like to congratulate CVRT and Neumann on getting 3rd in qualifying for Brazil, and it is very unlucky that Darren wasn't able to qualify. I wish the team the best of luck for the race."
