The GPVWC arrived today in sunny Istanbul, Turkey, for round 4 of the 2008 World Championship. This track is one of the season's drivers' favourite, and one of Hermann Tilke's best creations. It features slow and fast turns, plenty of overtaking opportunities and the famous Turn 8 - the GPVWC is surely up for a great show!

The fight for the Drivers' Championship is shaping up with Woods Racing's Mark Wicks on top, enjoying a 6 points lead on his closest opponent, Laurentiu Albu. With Scott Whiteman not scheduled to appear in both Turkey and Monaco, these two drivers seem likely to be the main actors in what promises to be a season-long challenge for the title. Further down the table, Mal McKee seems to be getting a bit of distance between himself and William Ponissi - and in doing so, he already bagged two podiums on the way.

Things get even more interesting in the Constructors' Championship. Woods Racing owe their first position to the exploits by Wicks, but they are closely followed by Nordsjoen Racing. The Italian outfit, so far, counted on the points of both Whiteman and Ponissi, and the gap with Woods is a mere 4 points. Martijn Vosselman, on the second Woods, can be the key player in the Championship fight. However, Belami Racing (22 points) and Synergetic (17) are in pursuit of the leading pair. With such a closed pack, results in Istanbul and Montecarlo will prove pivotal in shaping the Championship.
