Jeroen Jansen put together the lap of a lifetime to snatch pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix at the A1-Ring.
The Dutch driver, his Platform Michelangelo clearly enjoying the long straight of the alpine track, was no match for the opposition. Jansen stopped the clock at 1:11.446, more than 2 tenths faster than Laurentiu Albu.
The Belami Racing driver, now controlling the Championship, will be happy with his front row qualifying attempt, and will start ahead of Scott Whiteman. The Australian, coming back to the circus after a prolonged absence, showed the limits of the Nordsjoen package on this track; overall, a day to forget for the Wales-based team, which saw Italian GP winner William Ponissi disqualified for some technical irregularities.
