Irish debutant Martin Oconnor is reported to have signed a 2-month contract with top team Evans Blue Racing to be their first Test Driver since the departure of Mark Stanton.

Oconnor is a new name to the GPVWC, and will not need to wait to receive his first taste of racing in the Superleague - he will take place in the #12 car as he replaces Jyri Lylykorpi for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix.

Lylykorpi, who currently sits twelfth in the Drivers' Championship with 12 points, will be forced to miss the race due to his busy schedule - an issue which caused several missed opportunities for him and his team. Team boss Makke-Ala Kaljstaja's signing of the new Irish star is hoped to go some way to bring stability - and two cars on the grid - to one of the most successful teams of the 2009 season.
