Wayne Mullins and Gavin Thomas launched their new 2010 venture, the R5R-01, today. Along with the sleek and stylish new car, a brand new website was also launched, giving the new team a high media presence that it never had under its former Gear guise.

Team Principal and number 1 driver Wayne Mullins was thrilled with the new developments; "We have spent countless sleepless nights getting to this point. To have the car and website both up and running at the same time is a dream come true. We've come a long way since the early part of 2009 where the Gear cars usually qualified towards the back and crashed out of most races. In 2010 we aim to be the best new team and challenge for major honours".

During the glitzy unveiling of the car and website it was announced that Gavin Thomas had purchased a 49% stake in the team and would be returning as the second driver. Thomas stated; "Its great to be back home again. We have big plans for 2010 and with the tools we now have at our disposal, we're aiming to make major improvments."

Also announced was the signing of Christoph Lichtenstein as the teams reserve driver and race driver in the feeder Supercup series. Mullins explained his selection by stating "Christoph has shown a high level of loyalty and dedication to the team. We wanted to reward him by giving him more experience and to help him develop as a driver. We think the Supercup series will be the perfect place to do that."

As the champagne corks popped in their new factory in South Wales, Red5Racing look forward to March with renewed optimism and hunger. Bring on Australia....
