ST Racing announces its arrival in the 2010 Superleague season, having risen from the ashes of Fusion Racing: the team spent the post-2009 season not knowing whether they would ever turn a wheel again, following the sudden folding of the English outfit.

Mark Fuller, previous driver with Fusion, held lengthy talks with the Superleague administrators to try to save the team, but had to relinquish a lot of the assets of Fusion Racing, including the high profile headquarters which generated so much interest last season. At the same time, talks were also held with a chassis manufacturer and towards the end of 2009 a deal was reached with McLaren to provide the MMG chassis. This tipped the balance with the GPVWC and ST Racing was born and - most importantly - granted Fusion's slot in the 2010 Superleague.

ST Racing is starting as a small outfit in an effort to keep costs down and has made its base in a small industrial estate near to Chandler's Ford in Hampshire, UK. The primary reason for this is that the team has managed to secure 'track' time at Southampton airport to test the development of the car. The first two STR01-10 chassis arrived at the factory on the 2nd of January and the team is currently in hectic talks with sponsors to find sufficient backing for the season ahead.

Over the Christmas break, Team Principal Mark Fuller spent quality time searching for exciting new talent to take the team forward in 2010. First on board was Tom Parker, who showed his mettle in the Megane racing series, followed closely by Zac Rainey, also spotted in the Megane series. For the start of the 2010 season the driver line-up will be Tom Parker (Car No: 11) and Mark Fuller (Car No: 12). Zac will be the principal test driver and will deputise for Mark during the season. Zac has also offered to help the backroom staff in the initial stages of the recruitment process, using his IT skills to great effect.

It is going to be a very hectic time, between now and the first race at the end of March, for the Designers, Technicians, Factory Staff and drivers to develop the STR01-10 to be ready for Free Practice at Melbourne.

After such a busy winter, what are ST Racing hoping to achieve in 2010? With Tom Parker in the team, podium finishes are definitely on the cards and a top four constructors finish would be the icing on the cake for the team. Team principal Mark Fuller was recently heard to say "It's going to be one heck of a non-stop season, balancing management, driving and PR work. I'm so glad that I've got Tom and Zac on board to take some of the pressure."
