A good seven seasons have passed since Woods Racing first took their bow in the racing world. Seven seasons of varying success, from the joy of winning to the bitter pill of being relegated from racing. Now, however, the present sees the team finally fulfilling their potential and challenging the best of the racing world.

After a disappointing Australian GP, where the team finished sixth and eighth, there was some worry that the potential of a great partnership of Mark Wicks and Kieran Ryan, coupled with a stonking Mercedes engine, would be unfulfilled. The team began to show promise, however, when Mark pushed Lee Morris all the way to second place in Abu Dhabi. Since then, the team have consistently scored podium finishes, and as the team rolled into Bahrain there were hopes of continuing this run in form. This was duly achieved, but with better results than anyone had been expecting as Kieran Ryan took his first win of the season, taking advantage of Janne Tanskanen’s early problems to win in style with Mark Wicks, consistent as ever, taking third place. Kieran had this to say:

“I never expected P1 like this in Bahrain. The car never felt 100% great to drive all the way through the sessions but my times were strong despite this. I was happy to be on the front row, and a podium would have been a dream, but a win
