After a chaotic Spanish GP, the Supercup competitors headed off to Brianza region of Italy for the race at the ultra-fast Monza circuit. Qualifying saw a fairly close battle between the leading drivers with Sam Millar continuing his recent run of good form by claiming pole ahead of the likes of Mark Stanton, Jason Muscat and Christoph Lichtenstein.

Millar managed to keep hold of his first place at the start, but soon came under pressure from Stanton. The pair battled for several laps before Stanton managed to get around the outside of his rival at the Parabolica. Despite a brake issue and a few scares, Stanton managed to gradually pull clear and recorded his first ever win in the Supercup on his return to action. Further back new PB Racing driver David Jundt managed to take an 3rd from Christoph Lichtenstein. However the young German slightly extends his championship lead over rival Chris Williamson who could only finish 5th after damaging his car.
