European Williamson Dynamics have confirmed that upcoming team protege, Adam Smith, will occupy the team's first confirmed test drive seat in 2011. Smith had long been linked with a move to Superleague, but expressed a clear preference for remaining in WD's Supercup squad. However, the team were clearly insistant on Smith's input over the season and expressed a determination to have the young driver in the development process of the WDF1.11 over the course of the campaign.

"Adam is one of the most dedicated drivers we could have found for a testing role, over the past season he has become a central figure in Williamson Dynamics and his input is valued by the team at all levels, we are delighted he has agreed to take on this role for the forthcoming season" commented team owner Ben Williamson. This appointment will serve to further project the wide speculation that Smith is in heavy favour with the team and is an emerging talent that the board at WD are keen to keep a hold of and develop.

A second test driver is due to be announced in the coming days, but as yet no serious hints have been leaked to the media. Names linked with the remaining drive include experienced dutchman and WD stalwart, Roy Wachtmeester, long serving team test driver Matt Malecki, setup specialist Tom Eley and exciting upcoming talent Charles Thesiera - a former Petronas simulator championship champion, and canon simulator challenge runner-up. All of whom have already signed lucrative exclusive deals tying them to WD for the forthcoming two seasons, and the team will be keen to employ drivers of such calibre within their Superleague campaign almost certainly. There is little doubt that any one of these drivers could prove invaluable to a campaign that is becoming increasingly important to WD and its backers and choosing between them at this stage is near impossible for even the most experienced motorsport pundits.
