Hawkeye Racing proudly announced that they will be competing in the GPVWC Superleague series in the 2012 season, as well as having a team in the Supercup and Formula Challenge.

Triple Double Racing manager Phil Perkins has agreed to rebadge the team to Hawkeye Racing, adding Hawkeye boss Ric Scott to the staff to handle all the media and PR side of the team management, whilst Phil will continue to work on the development.

“The team will essentially what TDR is now, with Phil still being in charge of the Superleague setup, but the name change will help pave the way for other changes, including a team website as well as myself helping out with the running of the team.” said Hawkeye founder Ric Scott.

It was almost 3 months ago that Hawkeye Racing announced their entry into the GPVWC Supercup series. The Cumbrian outfit used the 2nd tier of the single seater setup to get to grips with the league rather than going straight into the deep-end. It will be 10 years since the team last competed at the top level. After a difficult season in 2000, the team pulled out and focussed on other projects and team boss Ric Scott feels the team have unfinished business in the GPVWC.

Hawkeye are yet to confirm their driver line-up but with Ryan Walker announcing his departure to Nijo, there will be at least one change made but after an impressive debut season, Bart De Vos looks set to remain.

"It is a pleasure to welcome back the Hawkeye brand in the Superleague" said GPVWC Admin William Ponissi. "When TDR approached us to discuss the team change, we made it clear that the team would need to honour its existing contracts and remain substantially unchanged, in a similar manner to what Yellowbirds did when turning into Computrac. We therefore cannot talk about a completely new team, but there are plenty of reasons to get excited. I am sure that the combined experience of Phil and Ric, together with the excellent grade of organisation and the possibility to retain De Vos, could make Hawkeye a serious competitor soon."
