The 2012 GPVWC Superleague will feature its biggest ever grid with Supercup teams Kernow Sport and Green Stripes Racing - previously known as CP Lotus - joining the GPVWC's premier competition.

With Williamson Dynamics pulling out of Superleague after a disappointing 2011 season and the GPVWC Administration adding an extra slot to the Championship lineup, two teams were vying for entry to what promises to be another exciting season. Among the applications received, Kernow and Green Stripes Racing provided the GPVWC Administration with the most solid options to guarantee a competitive grid come Melbourne in March.

"It is a pleasure to welcome the new teams to the Superleague family" said GPVWC Admin William Ponissi. "Mark Wicks and Christoph Lichtenstein have been with us for a long time and their commitment to the league and to our project has been outstanding. To see them at the helm of a team is great and sends the right message - if you are willing to be involved with the GPVWC, rewards will come."

Ponissi was careful, however to explain that the decision to add the two teams to the Superleague was not just based on the managers' standing in the league. "We asked for proof that their project was a sound one" said the Admin, "we wanted to make sure the teams could provide two drivers at every race and the levels of commitment necessary not only to succeed in the Superleague, but also not to let down all the other teams and drivers that do their best to make this Championship one of the most enjoyable on the internet."

While nothing yet has been disclosed about drivers, the possibility of the teams fielding respective team managers Wicks and Lichtenstein would guarantee both of them an experienced driver on whom to build the new team. Wicks in particular, a race winner with Woods in 2008, is the GPVWC's second most-capped driver and finished runner-up in both the 2009 and 2010 Superleague seasons.

The teams will be taking part in the bidding process to take place in January 2012 in order to sign engine deals and personnel contracts.
