After their festive break the GPVWC media circus assembled today at the Nijo Racing headquarters in Cheshire as the team became the latest Superleague outfit to reveal their 2012 driver line-up.

In front of the gathered ranks of reporters, team manager Chris Williamson started proceedings by reflecting a little on Nijo Racing's rather tough debut season and focusing on the way forward. “When we entered the Superleague last season everything was looking set for a solid debut, but rather regrettably what followed were several elements beyond our control coming together and knocking us off course, which very much left us on the back foot for much of the season. That said, in spite of having taken the decision to switch our main focus to the 2012 season, we did experience a very encouraging recovery late in the season and this gave us a great deal of confidence that we will be much stronger for the season ahead.”

Williamson then moved on to the topic of pre-season talk concerning his 2012 driver signings, which in recent weeks has sparked much debate amongst the GPVWC ranks and significant speculation, leading to several potential names being put forward. One of these names was Ryan Walker, who had initially been reported as having signed a deal with the team. This rumour was directly addressed by Williamson during his speech; “First of all let me confirm that some of what has been reported in the press is true. We at Nijo Racing did in fact agree a preliminary deal with Ryan to drive with us, but it later became clear that personal circumstances meant that the he was no longer able to fully commit to racing with us in the Superleague in 2012. It should be noted that the split was amicable and we would definitely welcome the opportunity to work with Ryan again in future, should circumstances permit.” With that situation cleared up, there was a brief pause as the team's spokesman got ready to bring up the main business of the day
