Following the recent bidding process for team personnel Kernow Sport can now officially announce the crew it has signed to push this team along for the 2012 season. The drivers were revealed at the close of 2011 but now we?d like to introduce you all to the key members of the Kernow Sport squad and their structure within the team. And we?d like to say that we are very happy with who we?ve managed to procure considering our financial operating margins as a new team.

Firstly, Owner and Manager, is of course myself Mark Wicks, that?s no news to anyone. But all personnel in the team report to me. I make all the major decisions and I will try my hardest to get the best out of my signings.

Our three important contracted personnel won through the bidding process are: Jedrzej Piotrowski in the position of Chief Designer. Daniel Diaz as Commercial Manager and Florian Beich will be Chief Mechanic. All three signings bring skills in various areas that will hopefully benefit the team over the course of the season.

Jedrzej (44), of Poland, is being kept busy already making sure the new car reaches us in time and in good shape for the February test sessions. He will then be hard at work designing updates for our cars in the areas of Aero, Front and Rear Wings, Diffuser and Draft Grip. Jedrzej himself is a very stubborn individual but highly skilled and a total perfectionist. To be honest he?s a control freak in the factory and quite outspoken. He has areas of work that interest him more than others and so his skills lean in those directions. In fact he is already trying his hardest to persuade me which areas to concentrate in with regards developing the car. Funnily enough these areas are the ones he likes working on most and it will be a tough job trying to keep his mind on the other areas I want him to work on at times, so perhaps there will be a few disagreements along the road travelled. But the destination we both want to reach is the same and that is to be champions of GPVWC. He is thoroughly committed and a tireless worker and just a plain nice guy.

Daniel (40) comes from Spain and will soon be to work negotiating with sponsors in order to bring in suitable deals for the team to assist our bank balance. He?s a very charismatic and personable guy. Full of energy and charm, Daniel is creatively intelligent and has a great eye for a winning deal along with the gift of the gab when it comes to persuasion. For some reason he?s also very popular with the ladies, something which must be to do with his big paycheque.

Florian (47) of Switzerland will be at each track session organising the pit-crews and keeping our team looking respectable in the pit-lane. He will oversee the preparation of pit-stops (which he excels at skills-wise), the refuelling and tyre changes, as well as refining the process by trying to eliminate any costly errors. He?s a jolly guy of few words, getting on in years and getting on in the creation of middle-age flab (he went up two sizes of overalls in one month - He blames the pasties, his new favourite food since having arrived in Cornwall. Leave one lying around the garage unattended and you know where it will end up). In the team though he?s a rather beloved figure, as well as being a safe pair of hands in the pits. He likes a joke; however his do tend to get lost in translation.

Other members of the team already in place, who you will get to know further throughout the year, are as follows:

Matt Rowe (31) is our Chief Engineer and will make sure the power-plants supplied to us run in tip-top shape at each Grand Prix, providing our drivers with all the power they need, when they need it most, without failure. He will also be in-charge of looking after all the electronic and hydraulic systems fitted to the cars. Matt has a keen eye and a good knowledge and will work through the night in order to provide the best conditioned engines he can. The young Cornishman likes a laugh and pint or five of his favourite cider.

Our Strategist, overseeing the team?s race plans and making on-the-spot decisions during a race if unforeseen events occur is Wong Ki-Kah (33) from

China. Wong is a very smart individual. His brain is a supercomputer and he can think up solutions to problems instantly. He will be a valuable asset in overcoming any issues or incidents that crop up and maximising our strategy potential at every event. He is cheerful and bright, and strongly accented, an issue that can sometimes lead to misunderstandings.

The teams PR Officer is the short, opinionated, hardworking Jane Tremayne (25). It will be her job to liaise with the Press at events and make sure the team appears in a positive light in the media. She will also do her best to manage the drivers press activities and make sure they avoid doing or saying anything that might be seen as detrimental to the team. And she will write and publish team reports. She has a difficult job which she applies herself to enthusiastically with 100% effort. She is smart but a bit naïve and sometimes clumsy. She?s worried that she isn?t taken as seriously as she should be in the male dominated world of GPVWC due to her pretty features and smart appearance, which can lead to being teased a lot. The team adore her though.

What team though isn?t complete without a Grid Girl? Kernow Sports is the young, leggy blonde from Iceland: Prítti Frúmbihynde (19). She?s not the smartest or wittiest of girls, that?s for sure, and her attention span is shorter than her skirt, but she holds up an umbrella like no-one else.

Lastly is the team?s motorhome driver Gorran Retallick (23). He makes sure our mobile base is always where we need it on time and setup before everyones arrival. He has also become the unofficially-official team photographer (we don?t pay him for it). He?s enthusiastic and infectiously passionate about the team and can usually be heard yelling Kernow Bys Vyken! whenever one of our cars passes him by. However he has his vices and can be boisterous and foul-mouthed.

And so there you have it. Kernow Sports team behind the scenes for 2012. Our team have set up a Blog where our crew members are free and able to add their thoughts throughout the season. You can follow them and the team at http://kernowsport.blogspot.com/. It will also be your first stop for all future PR and reports.
