One of the most eagerly-awaited contenders of the season, Hawkeye Racing, launched their 2012 Superleague car today at the Silverstone circuit in front of a throng of journalists and a selection of lucky fans.

With a hugely talented line-up featuring Supercup hotshots Bart de Vos and Lewis Redshaw, many believe Hawkeye, which last competed in the GPVWC top tier in 2001, have what it takes to mix it with the leaders from day 1. It is true that de Vos, who competed last year for TDR, showed great potential in his few Superleague appearances, but so far little about the team's true potential has been revealed in pre-season testing - the thinking among most pundits being that the team's decision to focus on long runs instead of hotlaps was both to focus on the car's reliability and to hide their cards from their rivals.

Team Manager Ric Scott was keen on not letting the huge expectations poured on Hawkeye unsettle his team. "We have a good line-up, but both our drivers are young and are still much on a learning curve for the Superleague: it is important we don't burn two of the most promising talents on the grid by putting unrealistic expectations on them, especially with such a competitive set of rivals as the one we have this year."

"The team's main strategy is to focus on consistent point finishes with the potential to grab some podiums as the season progresses. Hawkeye's aim is to build up our potential with a look at next year too."

The audience were shown a video recording of the car driving around Monaco from earlier in the week before they got to see the car round Silverstone.

The team also used this opportunity to launch their Supercup car which will be driven by Adam Rouse and Jack Nicholls for what it is believed to be another quality pairing.
