Nordsjoen Racing might have started the season by losing out to Midnight's Lukas Euler, but there is no sign of panic at the Italian-Norwegian team headquarters.

"We are not overly worried about the situation" said Team Manager William Ponissi. "We know where we stand and we are confident we will find the pace to answer the performance of our rivals before too long".

In the season opener in Australia, Joe Consiglio finished third behind Euler and Lee Morris, while Pavel Loknovski endured a difficult race and finished behind Tom Parker's Woods in 7th. Most surprisingly, though, both drivers were somewhat off the pace in qualifying, usually a strong area for Nordsjoen.

"Lukas is a talented driver and Midnight a strong team, we have seen that last year" commented Ponissi. "We have something in the pipeline that will allow us to close the gap from the next races, but what went wrong in Melbourne was not just a consequence of car development - it was just an off race for the whole team and it was destiny it would happen in the first race of the season."

"The race was pretty much as I expected" said Estonian Loknovski after the race. "But I am taking the positives from the race, I am not too far off guys I thought would be much ahead of me and in better circumstances I can be even closer."

Double World Champion Consiglio was also in a confident mood: "I never managed to get to my practice pace in the race, but I am working to address this issue. We should be closer to the leaders in Shanghai and at least we managed to finish the race with a podium which leaves us closer to the top."

For Consiglio, who suffered retirement in Melbourne in both 2009 and 2011, third place is definitely an improvement over his last two appearances in Australia. "We leave the first round with 14 points" said Ponissi, "that's 10 more than last season and we need to take this as a starting point to build our 2012 challenge on."
