Ex-Live for Speed racing team Epic Racing has been accepted into the new-for-2012 World Sport Series (WSS) after an announcement made today by William Ponissi.

Racing under the guise Epic Motorsport Racing Team, the British squad will again be managed by Lee Davidson, who himself is currently racing for Midnight Motorsports in the new Formula Challenge series. They were announced alongside three new squads for the WSS; Revolution Motorsport, Hydraulix and Royal Blue Racing. So far these four new teams are the only ones confirmed for the series as the directors continue to wait for anymore new entries before relying upon more established squads.

"Welcome to Epic Motorsport, Revolution Motorsport, Hydraulix and Royal Blue Racing!I will leave until the end of the weekend for "new" teams to pop in before starting to populate the grid with existing ones." - William Ponissi

Team Manager Lee Davidson had this to say about his successful entry;

"It's a relief to finally see the Epic name back in sim racing, and there's really no better place for the squad to be reborn than in the World Sport Series. It's designed with newcomers in mind and I'm absolutely certain it's going to be a series that will remain for years to come. I fully intend on Epic being a part of this success story."

It's also been revealed that Lee Davidson's links with current Superleague leading squad Midnight Motorsport will go further than merely his driver contract, after confirming the squad will be based in the same location as Midnight and utilising the same facilities;

"Midnight has been nothing short of superb with me so far this year and although the on-track results haven't been as good as they could be, I think we both see our working relationship lasting for years to come, and this is the next logical step. I'm not blind to the fact that I am more renown for my time as a team manager rather than as a driver and so it's fantastic that they have given me their blessing to become 'part of the family' as such."

When asked about whether this will mean any incentives for new drivers to join the team, Davidson remained objective;

"I don't think I need to promise drivers 'oh, drive for us and you'll be at Midnight in no time.', ultimately, I want Epic to be able to stand on our own two feet and establish ourselves as a genuine force with GPVWC. Midnight have gone out of their way to help us start up and so naturally people are going to link us to them as a feeder squad, I don't see why any driver would turn down a drive from Midnight and if, eventually, a driver of our wishes to go on to drive there, I'd be a very harsh man to block it."

The teams now have two weeks to confirm their driver line ups before the first round which is due to be held at the Hungaroring, Hungary on the 28th of April. Davidson is confident their small window will be more than enough time to get his line up finalised,

"I've already been in discussions with a number of drivers about racing with us, some who have introduced themselves to the series and some who haven't. All I can say is watch this space as an announcement will come at any time."
