It was announced today that Ben Morgan would be unavailable for Round 5 of the GPVWC Superleague calendar in Barcelona, raising further doubts overhis future within the Welsh outfit.

Team Manager Gavin Thomas was quoted as saying, "Ben's issues this year have been well documented, he has a lot on his plate and has failed to finish a Grand Prix this year."

"We have brought in Will Tringas for him in China and hoped that his psychological issues would be eased with the time we have given him. However it appears that the sabbatical was not enough and we have taken the decision with Ben to allow further time away for him to sort his affairs out.

With this said, we have taken the decision to promote newcomer Geoff Meade to the number 20 car for Barcelona."

Geoff has impressed since joining us just before the In-Season test at Bahrain earlier this month, he has the ability to drive the car within the pace we expect so we shall see what he can do in a race."

That said Thomas handed over the rostrum to the newly promoted Geoff Meade.

"I started this season enquiring about a Formula Challenge seat with Red 5, I was amazed when Gavin contacted me to take the second Test Driver role.

To get the chance to be on a Superleague grid so early in my GPVWC career shows what can be achieved with the support of a truly supportive team.

I do wish Ben well with his recovery, I understand that he may well be back for Monaco, but if he isn't able to, then I want to make my case as strong as possible to the management of this team, as I also have stiff competition from William Tringas!"

The Final word as ever was from Thomas."I've stated before and I'll say it again, Red 5 Racing is more than a team it is a family, we're delighted to give Geoff this chance and Will Tringas is also delighted for him, Tringas will have further opportunities this season and he fully understands the reasons behind Geoff being chosen ahead of him for this race. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to ensure that Geoff has the seat fitting today, so that we can get on track as soon as possible!" With that Thomas and Meade left the press conference.

Can Thomas and Meade do what no Red 5 car has this year and finish in the points in the Catalonian region?

Will Ben Morgan ever return to his racing best? Only time will tell.
