Following the Superleague Hungarian Grand Prix, Liam Hatchell has taken the decision that he felt necessary after his recent performances in the top-flight competition.

"After reviewing how I feel in the Superleague in 2012, I feel I'm not in the best shape I have been and being out of racing for a year, it has taken it's toll on my abilities.

"I am my own biggest critic, and while I'd love to race alongside some of my great friends in the Superleague, I'm not happy with a number of factors within the competition which I feel aren't helping me to enjoy the racing. Therefore, I have decided to step down as race driver in the Superleague to allow one of the test drivers to take my place and drive for a fantastic team.

"I will continue to race in the GPVWC, hopefully in the World Sport Series under my own team, I'm just waiting for clarification on my test driver contract with Synergetic. I'm looking forward to getting back into tin-tops and actually enjoying racing again".

Hatchell-Pennine Motorsports are still waiting for an additional driver for the World Sport Series.
