Talking to journalists in the Post-race press conference after the latest Formula Challenge race, Jon Maclean was left scratching his head with events gone by.

"Funnily enough, Ojay [Clark] text me after the race saying 'I saw it coming before it happened Jon, You've been so unlucky it's unreal'. And I can't help but agree with him. I keep hoping that my luck will change and I'll have a clean weekend. But something always seems to go astray.

I don't think I've had a race weekend go where I had a clean race followed by a clean sprint, and I come from it feeling good. There's always been something in the races that's made me look back at what could've been.

There was the spin from the lead at Brands, the crash at Assen, the contact from the lead at Vallelunga, and that one I had to avoid hitting a guy which caused me to spin at Petroljia. And now this. There's always been that incident in the weekend which leaves me wondering 'what if?"

When asked to go into further detail about the incident that saw him front the chaos of the turn one at the feature race;

"Yeah, that was a bit of a painful one. I cheekily tweeted from my phone before the sprint race to the broadcasters, 'what's my chances of getting 1st into turn 1' and it came true. As for the incident itself, someone hit my car from behind, it wasn't anything major but it did put my two left wheels on the grass, I held it, or at least I thought I did, as I came back onto the track, I felt I had control of the car so I started to put the throttle down and as soon as I did, my back end felt as if it was floating and the car just went round on me. I don't know if the contact earlier had damaged anything but for the rear to go so lose the grip like that was abnormal"One journalist eluded to the Scot's lack of experience;"I may only have 6-7 months worth of racing experience ever. But I know what I'm currently capable of. I know I struggle with nerves in the first 5 or 6 laps. And seemingly all my incidents happen then, but I do maintain my belief that I should be battling in the top 6 at least. If I could hold it together, I probably would."Looking forward to the next race;"I haven't seen or been on the track yet, but from the track map it looks fun. I'm more focussed on just having 2 clean races. And If I manage that, then we'll see where we are"
