With the recent announcement that two-time champion Joe Consiglio would be retiring from sim-racing with immediate effect, speculation has been rife as to who would take the seat vacated by the reigning champion.

A spokesman for British driver Dave Carr-Smith today confirmed that talks had taken place regarding the vacant seat, with senior personnel from Nordsjoen Racing having visited the German headquarters of Green Stripes Racing to discuss the details of such a deal.

An insider revealed to us that, despite a deal being all but confirmed between Carr-Smith and Nordsjoen's management, a late call from a senior figure within the Green Stripes team put an end to negotiations, seemingly unhappy with the situation with which the team [Green Stripes] had been presented.

It is believed that the Green Stripes team were troubled by the prospect of losing Carr-Smith; the Brit having surprised the paddock by securing the team's first podium at the Hungarian GP just last month, followed by a fifth placed finish in the Spanish GP just two weeks ago.

Whilst we were unable to obtain an official comment from Carr-Smith we are led to believe that there is a great disappointment with the decision, with a transfer to the Nordsjoen squad potentially affording him his best opportunity to repeat his Monaco victory of twelve months ago.

The Nordsjoen/Carr-Smith pairing is one that has been on the brink of realisation on a number of occasions throughout recent years; it would appear however that once again, it remains nothing more than a hope for the future for those involved.
