It has been announced today that English driver Ben Warren has re-signed with GPVWC Superleague outfit Nijo Racing and will drive the #22 car for the rest of the season. Warren will replace regular driver Abdel Damghi with immediate effect.

Damghi, who has had a difficult start to the season is expected to stay on with Nijo as a test and reserve driver, and is likely to make some appearances in the GPVWC Supercup.

Warren made several appearances for Nijo Racing in the Superleague last season as the team's reserve driver, but finally becomes a full-time Superleague driver for the first time in his career. Warren said "I'm delighted I'm getting the chance to once again race for Nijo Racing, but this time as a full-time driver. Firstly I'd like to thank Chris for giving me this opportunity to drive in the Superleague again, and I hope I can repay the faith he's showing in me. I believe I've improved as a driver since I last raced in the Superleague, and I'm sure working with Ruud and the rest of the team will be a pleasure! I'd also like to thank Will Ponissi for allowing me to leave Nordsjoen Racing and take this opportunity, which does not come around for every driver. Getting to even just test for a team of Nordsjoen's stature was a great experience for me, and I leave Nordsjoen on very good terms!"

Warren then commented on how the Nijo Racing team has evolved and changed compared to when he previously raced for them. "Last season was a really tough first year for the team. They couldn't depend on a stable driver line-up, and scoring points was hard to come by at times. Now they have a season under their belts, a very quick driver in Ruud Heesterbeek, and it's easy to notice the progression this team is making compared to their debut season. I'm very glad to be a part of it, and I hope I can contribute to the points tally as often as possible!" Warren will race for the team at the next round, the SimInk Canadian Grand Prix on May 31st.
