With the departure of Ojay Clark from the Synergetic Superleague roster, and the previous departure of Liam Hatchell, the Northern Irish team has been left in a bind. Negotiations were still on-going until the last minute over a contract buy-out for Clark, who will be driving with a new team in South Korea.

Holding firm to the idea of internal promotion, fast rookie Daniel Lovett will be taking Clark's place, having been selected from the Formula Challenge competition.

"Dan is really looking forward to the opportunity to be in the F1-style events, as he enjoys that the most. A real speed freak perhaps!" announced team boss Mal McKee at a late press call, "I've been impressed by him in the FC, and he expressed his enthusiasm and commitment when I put the options to the team. In testing, he's looking fine, considering he's not had too much time to get used to the car."

Lovett says that he's, "looking forward to my first race in the Super League and, more
importantly, pushing forward Synergetic as a team."

Neither Lovett nor McKee are expecting miracles and team orders for this race is just to bring the car home. "I hope to give Dan the best opportunity we can manage with an under-developed car - a chance to develop Dan as a driver at this level, and to forge a good relationship to help him improve his racecraft," said McKee.

Last minute negotiations mean that there may be a surprise in the Synergetic line-up.

McKee ended the conference by saying, "I'd like to thank Jamez Shepherd if this deal pans out. I'd also like to say that Ojay's move does not mean a severing of the relationship with the team, and that I think I speak for everyone in the team when I say we wish him good luck for the rest of this season in his new outfit. I also believe he'll be in good hands."
