Torrent Motorsports have today announced that they will not compete in any of the development "career ladder" series in 2013. The team have lodged an application to gain a spot on the grid for the 2013 Superleague and want to put all efforts into that.

Team Manager Simon Melhuish said "When we joined GPVWC the Superleague was where we wanted to race, unfortunately we joined too late to lodge a team application for 2012 so settled to compete in the lower series.

We have competed in other high profile open wheel championships are done well but these were with identical cars. The way to win in the Superleague is doing well off the track with development of the car as well as results on the track."

Simon Melhuish was also asked about who would drive for the team if the application was successful.

"Well its no secret that Petter Kaasa will be one of our drivers, we have many talented drivers within the team that could join him. Jim Parisis, Rickard Hellsten, Richard Johansson, Florian Bekker & Mindaugas Klumbis just to name a few.

We could even go for someone who already has Superleague experience; Dave Carr-Smith, Ruud Heesterbeek and see if we could tempt Joe Consiglio out of retirement.

We will make an official announcement if our application is successful."
