Woods Racing announced today that their test driver, David Gaspers, will be driving the #9 car for the Brazilian Grand Prix due to Kieran Ryan's unavailability. Gaspers is currently flying high in the Formula Challenge division, taking a number of wins on his way to the top 5 of the championship despite only starting midway through the year. He has impressed throughout testing sessions and will hopefully bring more points to the Southampton-based team as they bid to increase their standing in the World Championship.

Indeed, this is an important time for the team. The team have had Kernow Sport in their sights and, while results recently have gone against the boys in blue and silver, a great double points finish from Gaspers and Parker could reignite the battle as the season reaches a climax. With rumours of Kieran Ryan's impending retirement and disillusionment with the sport, as well as rumours of Phoenix F1 whispering in Boyd Bryson's ear, the team will surely be looking for a good result in order to attract the highest calibre of drivers for the 2013 season should these two leave, as well as sponsors and suppliers to match.

People in the paddock have likened the team to Williams F1, a comparison which is said to have angered team principal Ollie Woods. The race also gives David Gaspers an opportunity to prove himself at Superleague level, with managers both home and away desperate to sign the next big thing.
