As the curtains begin to fall on another year, Halcyon Racing continues to quietly go about planning for the upcoming GPVWC season.

The team enjoyed an auspicious debut season, finishing third overall in the Supercup in the teams? championship and finding success in the Masters Series. The team raised a few eyebrows at the GPVWC Day annual meet, when it was announced that the team would be moving up to the Superleague. Knowledge of their application, unlike others, was a guarded secret with many in the paddock assuming the team would stay in the Supercup for 2013.

Team owner Adam Rouse recently spoke to journalists regarding the teams move up to Superleague at the team headquarters in Brackley, stating that ?the team long-term ambitions were always to end up in the Superleague. This year we achieved everything we set out as a new team in the Supercup. Actually, we exceeded expectations and were ahead of schedule, particularly when you consider we were only a Formula Challenge team in late January last year. Sometimes an opportunity comes along and you have to seize it, which is what we did when it became apparent that we had a genuine chance of earning a Superleague slot.?

The GPVWC stalwart insists the team is not merely there to make up the numbers, feeling that that the team has the right foundations in place to contend at least for points. ?Why not, I say? We showed last year at times that we could keep pace with some of the fastest guys in the Supercup. If we can translate that into the Superleague we should have a decent year.?

The team did confirm that Philip Cullen, who drove for the team in the Supercup, will again be making the transition with the team to the Superleague. Cullen took three podiums on his way to third position overall in the Supercup and was cautiously optimistic regarding the step up next year.

The affable Irishman told journalists that the ?next season is going to be interesting, to say the least. Personally, I have a lot of unfinished business at Superleague level after my ?first? career here at the GPVWC. It would be nice to set the record straight in that regard. I have to admit, the idea of moving up raised an eyebrow when Adam brought up the topic but you judge yourself against the best and, in 2013, the best are going to be on the Superleague grid. It?s going to be a hard slog, but the payoff will be worth it if everything comes together.?

With Cullen confirmed for one of the team?s seats, Rouse remained open on how the second seat would operate. ?Myself and Phillie spoke on numerous occasions how ideally, the two of us as team-mates would have been more beneficial to the team. So one of the plans for 2013 has me in the car, however, we as a team are staying open to whatever possibilities arise between now and Melbourne. Should a talented and motivated individual appear that would fit into the team dynamic with me and Phillie, then we will adjust the line-up to suit.?

The team is expecting to field applications for additional staff, including a reserve driver in the coming weeks to finalise preparations for what will no doubt be a demanding season in the team?s sophomore season of competition.
