After weeks of speculation since the 2012 GPVWC Day it was announced earlier this week that Woods Racing would be one of the teams to venture into the world of engine manufacture.

The team will produce engines under the Trinity name from the 2013 season onwards and engineers have been working hard throughout the off-season in the team's factories in Croydon and Southampton to produce an initial blueprint to be manufactured. Ollie Woods, team principal, released the following statement:

"Woods Racing are immensely proud to have been awarded a contract to produce engines for the 2013 GPVWC Superleague season. It has been a goal of ours to develop in this way ever since the idea was floated in 2009 so it is absolutely brilliant to be able to take this step now. We have totally refurbished our original Croydon headquarters to have the space to work solidly on these engines; the team in Southampton have remained in close communication and we think the results will be spectacular once the package is put together during pre-season testing.

The Trinity moniker is something quite personal to me. Trinity School was where my love of motorsport really took off during five years as a member of the school's racing team; I got a taste for success after our second and third place finish at the Greenpower National Final 2007 and our sense of teamwork is strongly influenced by those days. The other obvious meaning for the word Trinity is "three" and this applies to our team in various ways. For a start, we have three brilliant drivers lined up who will be announced in due course, as well as three teams including our Supercup and Formula Challenge feeders, also to be announced shortly. We also believe that the key to a good engine lies in three important areas; power, efficiency and reliability. This is the philosophy that will drive us to develop what we hope will be an engine capable of race wins.

We are delighted to be able to offer our engines for sale to other teams; we fully believe that working with Woods Racing is one of the best decisions a team can make. Our experience is unrivalled; we have been a part of every Superleague season since 2004, making us one of the longest consecutively running teams on the grid. Throughout the years we have adapted to every change that the league has brought in, from sponsors to draft efficiency to staff members, giving us the knowledge and experience to adapt to the new engine regulations. We have seen marvellous successes throughout the years, most notably in 2009 and 2010 as runners up, and our hunger for more success is greater than ever. Finally, we are also great people to work with and to collaborate with - our team are incredibly friendly and committed and we were voted equal second best team in the league for 2012 despite comparatively modest results. We are nearly always around to answer questions and to discuss the best way forward for engine progression as the season goes on.

There has never been a better time to work with Woods; we are ready for the challenges of the 2013 season and we look forward to discussions with the other teams."
