Superleague giants Nordsjoen Racing are to take a step into engine development by announcing the production of their own built engines, which will be marketed under the Martex brand name and made available to other teams.

As GPVWC opens to team-developed engines, few doubted the Superleague heavyweights would resist taking a step in which their unsurpassed experience and technical knowledge would set them firmly as the market leaders from the start. This announcement will see the Italo-Norwegian team supply engines to up to three more teams in the Superleague.

"It is an important step, but one we wouldn't take if we had doubts we'd be anything but the best" said team manager William Ponissi. "We have the technological know-how and the expertise that helped build three World Championship-winning cars to match."

Most importantly, what Nordsjoen brings to the table is an engine-building experience the other developers cannot boast.

"Back between 2002 and 2007, GPVWC teams were asked to develop the engines they worked with," said Ponissi. "We were leaders back then and having six seasons' worth of experience is going to give us an extra edge over others who will spend the first few months of the year finding their feet in this new environment."

"Martex may be a new brand, but it carries all the expertise and excellence of Nordsjoen Racing. It is an engine from Championship contenders, made for Championship contenders."
