As the new Superleague season approaches, it is that time of year where
the GPVWC Administration begin to think about the various bidding processes
that each team must participate in to determine not only their engine supplier
for the upcoming season, but also their personnel and commercial deals that
will form the backbone of each team's efforts throughout the next twelve
months.

At 10am on the 2nd January, today, the bidding process for personnel
will commence. The system remains largely unchanged from last year with the
usual bid guidelines being applied. Unlike the 2012 season however, there are
two new key features with regards to the personnel bid process.

The 'bid points' process that was, in the past, applied to engine deals
will, from 2013 onwards, be applied to the personnel bid process. For every
point scored in the 2012 Constructors Championship, a team receives a 50 bid
points bonus. For example, Team A bids £100,000 on a personnel member and they
scored fifty points in the 2012 championship; this means that the total bid for
Team A on that particular personnel member is 3,500 (£100,000 bid = 1,000
pts with a 2,500 bid bonus (50 points x 50).

In addition, any team that is able to re-sign a member of personnel
whom they had under contract for the 2012 season will see a 'loyalty' 500 pts
bonus applied to said personnel member, with a boost of +1 on each attribute of
that member of personnel to represent the benefits that a long term
relationship with key figures of personnel can bring to a team.

The process for the first round of personnel bidding will conclude on
the 5th January, with the second round of personnel bidding beginning
immediately for any teams that were unsuccessful in their first attempt at
negotiations. The second round of personnel bidding will then conclude on the
7th January; in the unlikely event that a third round be required, it will
start immediately and end one day later, on the 8th January.

On the 8th January the bid process for commercial deals will begin.
This process remains free of adjustment when compared to the 2012 edition, with
the first round of commercial bidding ending on the 11th January andthe second
round of commercial bidding beginning immediately for any teams that were
unsuccessful in their first attempt at negotiations. The second round of
commercial bidding will then conclude on 13th January; in the unlikely event
that a third round be required, it will start immediately and end one day
later, on the 14th January.

On the 14th January, the bid process for the engine deals will begin.
Whilst there are only small adjustments when compared with the 2012 edition, it
is important to highlight the changes so that you each remain fully
informed.

The biggest change is that there are far fewer options from which to
choose your prospective engine supply, with only four engines available to bid
upon with a maximum of three contracts available for each manufacturer ? in
addition to the works contracts that have already been assigned.

As with last year, the highest bids for each engine supply are the ones
that will win the contract. Any teams that are unsuccessful in this first round
of bidding, which will conclude on the 17th January will be required to
participate in the second round of the engine bid process that begins
immediately on the 17th and runs through till the 19th January. Again, in the
unlikely event that a third round of the engine bid process is required, it
will start immediately and end one day later on the 20th January ? four days
prior to the cars rolling out of the garage in Valencia for the first
pre-season test of the year.

As ever, the GPVWC Administration is here to assist you with any
queries that you may have regarding any of the above; should you require any
advice or assistance, please feel free to contact any member of the
Administration so that we can do our best to help resolve your query.
