Velocity Racing announces its plans for the upcoming season in the Formula Challenge series.

With both Woods Racing and PB Racing having announced their respective driver line-ups for the 2013 season, it was finally the turn of second year outfit Velocity Racing to take centre stage. The Oxfordshire based team began operations last season, competing in the inaugural Formula Challenge championship in 2012 with moderate success, and a few different drivers along the way.

While many expected Velocity to move up and compete in the GPVWC Supercup for 2013, they decided to remain in Formula Challenge for their second season, and in-turn become part of the Woods Racing family to help build the foundations of a strong future for all concerned in the Woods clique. With his duties as a driver finished for the evening, Ben Warren took to the stage to announce the team's driver line-up for 2013.

"Velocity Racing are delighted to be able to join the Woods Racing family as the team's affiliate Formula Challenge outfit. During our debut season in 2012 we operated as an independent team, but after the opportunity arose to become a Woods affiliate, we couldn't say no. Both our drivers have experience in one way or another of racing at the top level of the GPVWC, and we hope to have a successful season on the track, and in-turn help re-elevate these driver's GPVWC careers."?

"Firstly, driving the #7 car will be German driver Tim-Oliver Wagner. Tim had a good start to his career in the GPVWC in 2010, but found the going more difficult in 2011. I've competed alongside and against Tim for many years, and I know when he puts his mind to it, he can be a very quick driver. Joining Tim in the #8 car is Tom Eley. Tom has natural talent and speed, and we hope he can help us not just on the track, but also off the track, using his knowledge to help propel us in the right direction."?

"After speaking with Tom, he feels strongly that he could be a championship contender for this upcoming season, so the team will do everything to try and help him achieve his aims. Finally, I'm delighted to announce our reserve driver will be none other than Mr Ollie Woods. After some private testing, Ollie has taken a liking to this year's Formula Challenge cars, and is more than likely to see some track action this season when time allows it."

Warren then went on to explain further the team's decision to become an affiliate. "While I have ambitions for the future with Velocity Racing, I felt at this relatively early stage of the team's existence, learning alongside both Woods Racing and PB Racing would be a huge benefit to us, and we hope also to help them out in return. With myself having a driving role at both our Superleague and Supercup affiliates, it makes our jobs easier to keep everything under one roof, so to speak. Now everything is finalised and the negotiations are complete, we can begin to focus on the new season at all levels of competition."
