The surprise package of the 2012 Superleague launched their new contender in Imola in advance of the third pre-season test; Bart De Vos and Lewis Redshaw will be at the wheel of the RS-E1

Hawkeye Racing unveiled its 2013 GPVWC Superleague challenger this morning at Imola, before the team took to the track for the 3rd pre-season test session of the season.

Bart de Vos and Lewis Redshaw were on hand to take the wraps off the Potentia-powered RS-E1 which is seen as a evolution of the RS-12.

This will be Hawkeye's second season in the Superleague since they rejoined after a 10 year absence and it is thought that the RS-E1 was being worked on halfway through last season.

Team boss Ric Scott is hoping to be a bit more adventurous in 2013, "Last year we didn't take too many risks, it was more about learning how everything worked so that we were prepared for 2013. We took the bold step of slowing down the development early on which has put us in a strong position for this season. We really want to hit the ground running this time and perhaps be a bit more aggressive with our development so we can give the drivers a car that can compete for some serious points throughout the season."

The team have already signalled their intent by signing a new chief designer, commercial manager and chief mechanic. Their commercial manager Dominik Kohl was poached from Midnight Motorsports and the German has landed the team with several big sponsorship deals for the new season and Scott thinks this will help to keep Hawkeye as one of the fastest cars on the grid "Dominik has done a superb job of negotiating some excellent sponsorship deals for us. We have a better budget this year which means we can bring more new parts to the car earlier than before. I have no doubts that we'll be able to supply our drivers with a strong car for the whole season".

Scott went on to talk about his drivers chances "Bart and Lewis are both hugely talented young racers and I think we're lucky to have signed them for another year. Lewis performed exactly how we'd hoped he would last year, to be consistently in the points in his first season was impressive but now we're expecting him to push it up a gear and see what he can do with this new and improved car. Bart was unable to shine behind the wheel at Hawkeye in 2012 but ended the season very strongly at Nordsjoen so we're excited to see what he can produce for us in 2013."
