Target Racing unveiled its car for their debut campaign in the GPVWC Supercup at the Arctic Circle Raceway, just north of Mo I Rana.
The team received the final available berth in the Supercup grid at the beginning of January. The final spot had been left vacant when the team berths were initially announced at the GPVWC Day meet last November.

Once aware of the spot, current Supercup champion Petter Kaasa put forward a plan to the GPVWC Administration to fill the spot. The Torrent Motorsports star said he long harboured ambitions to start his own team and the available Supercup slot offered him the ideal opportunity to enter a team management role. After much deliberation on what to call the team, Kaasa finally settled on the name 'Target Racing', paying homage to a nickname used by him from the popular first-person shooter Call of Duty.

Speaking at the launch of his team, Kaasa spoke to gathered Norwegian media.

"I am very happy to get my own team running and to get the final spot for Supercup. After looking around for drivers, I am very pleased to be able to get two fast drivers to the team. As last year champion in Supercup, the goal will for sure be to do it again, and after seen the pace of my drivers I am sure they have what it takes to get the job done.

Petter went on to announce that team will consist of a distinct Scandinavian flavour. Fellow Norwegian Sindre Grimseth will team up with Finland's Ville Leppälä for the team's first foray into racing.

Grimseth will be stepping up from racing at a national level in the Racing League Nordic over the past several seasons. He expressed his delight "to be able to kick-start my international career, with Target Racing."

"This year will be a year for learning, and looking at my pace compared to other international drivers. I am hoping to be able to consistently deliver top 10 or better for team boss Petter Kaasa."

"And my ultimate goal for the season is to reach the podium. Pre-season testing has gone well for me, but settling in to the car will take some time. After a year of trouble with rfactor I finally got it working again, so a bit rusty but very eager to start to reach the limits again!"

While Leppälä will also be making his debut in the GPVWC this season, he is unlikely to be a stranger to many within the wider sim-racing community. The Finn has competed recently in a number of the series at FSR and will no doubt come with a degree of expectation, despite his lack of GPVWC experience. He joins the growing list of Finnish drivers within the GPVWC community.

The Finn briefly spoke to the media, saying that he was "happy to have gotten the chance to test myself at GPVWC with Target Racing. I hope I can bring good results for the team and fight for the championship."

Kaasa finished the launch by assisting his drivers to unveil the car, which was then proceeded by a short demo run ahead of the first official Supercup test at Jerez next Wednesday.
