Simink Motorsport team principal, Jamez Shepherd, was elated with his teams performance in Melbourne yesterday with Ryan Gilmore scoring a podium on début after a 2 year break from racing.
"It has been a great privilege to give Ryan the chance to return to the cockpit after spending 2 years out of the game. Yesterday he proved that none of the talent has been lost as he performed some outstanding overtakes against ruthless competitors on his way to 3rd place in race two. Unfortunately, we didn't have luck on our side today as a number of on track incidents with backmarkers took us out of contention with the lead of the race, but we have every confidence as the season progresses these issues will be ironed out and deliver some victories for the Simink team."

Rookie addition to the team, Nadir Khan, had a difficult round failing to finish in both races. But the team remain in high spirits with every confidence the young Canadian will shine.

"Nadir suffered numerous issues in preparation for the race, and we only managed to have the issues stabilised a matter of hours before qualifying. The whole team were very proud of how quickly he was able to get himself up to speed and settle in before the race. Unfortunately he was unable to find track space in qualifying and lined up on the grid amongst some unpredictable drivers, eventually being caught up in others first lap incidents. The team are confident in his abilities and I'm sure we'll see him bring home points in the near future."

The team now will now take a short break and enjoy the Supercup and Superleague races from the CSG and Midnight hospitalities in Melbourne before heading to Sepang for the Malaysian GP in two weeks time, where it is confirmed that Ryan and Nadir will both be in action again.

"We received some amusing offers for Ryan's services after Melbourne. But rest assured, Ryan's not going anywhere. At Malaysia in two weeks time, both Ryan and Nadir will be in a Simink car again."
