Woods Racing today announced a change in their Superleague lineup in a hastily arranged press conference at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, where the team are preparing for the Austrian Grand Prix on Thursday.

Team boss Ollie Woods addressed a crowd of reporters and TV cameras.

"I've called this conference to announce a major change to our lineup. Tom Parker has struggled through the first two races and it was clear during the Malaysian Grand Prix that he would be unable to continue the race. After the race we discussed the situation and Tom decided it was best that he take a break from the Superleague in order to sort his issues out. It goes without saying that we wish Tom well and that we are here for him every step of the way; we'll assess the situation again in a couple of months and I hope to see Tom back in the car.

This produced an awkward dilemma for us in terms of who would drive for us in the meantime; our reserve driver, Ben Warren, is quite happy in his seat at PB Racing and it made no sense to shuffle the gap to another Woods team. Thanks to a suggestion by a certain current Superleague championship leader we contacted an old friend of ours and after a weekend of consideration on his part he agreed to come back. Therefore I'm extremely pleased to announce that Mark Wicks will be driving for us for four races from the Austrian GP onwards.

It's so nice to have Mark back in the fold. The history between him and Woods Racing needs no introduction and I always hoped that one day he'd be back, even if I didn't expect it in quite this manner. I have faith in him to deliver the reliability that he always showed us at a time where we've had three retirements out of four cars starting. If he can score good points for us then that's an absolute bonus. Thanks also to Will Tringas for letting us share Mark for the next four races."

Mark came in, smiling, and had this to say:

"There's a lot of new faces at Woods HQ these days but some friendly old ones too. I feel like I'm coming home. I'm looking forward to becoming the first driver in league history to start 100 GPs for a single team, as I'm on 96 so far for Woods. We've got a lot of history together and I feel honoured to be able to help out this lovely team once again and compete for them. It'll be tough stepping back up to Superleague racing for the next couple of months but everyone here knows I'll give it my all regardless of the conditions, and anyway, blue was always my colour."
