Tom van der Voort extended his Nijo Racing contract with one year, staying with the English based outfit in his second Superleague season.

"I'm happy Chris [Williamson] wanted me to stay at Nijo Racing" said Van der Voort. "The team has enjoyed success this year and I'm glad I can be part of the team next year. I feel like I haven't given the them the results they deserve and I want to improve my performance next year."

Nijo Racing, who are currently in their most successful season to date and battling for the championship, earned their results mostly to lead driver Ruud Heesterbeek, with Van der Voort tagging along but not quite up to par with his team mate the entire season.

"Ruud has been outscoring me the whole season. He is obviously the faster driver and he fully deserves his title run. But I want to be up there next year. Which is part of the reason why I chose to stay at Nijo. We have a race winning car and I'm sure the team will be fighting with the other top teams next year as well. I want to show everyone that I'm capable of more than just a fifth place, or running out of fuel."

If Nijo Racing will be up there again next year is not yet certain. If they can maintain their current form, surely they will continue the success they've had this year. But with Torrent Motorsports mixing in, fighting for wins will be harder than ever before.
