Formula Challenge outfit enters its second season in the category with a strong lineup.

On January 9th VBM announced the Tanskanen Racing 2014 GPVWC Formula Challenge line up that they hope will move the team up from its 4th place finish last season.

After being a team overlooked for Supercup this year Juha Tanskanen has dusted himself off and brought his team back to Formula Challenge for its second season. Finishing 4th in the standings last season with six wins to their name and with other teams moving upwards to Supercup means Tanskanen find themselves top of the list with car numbers #0 and #2.

Tanskanen was proud to announce that driving car #0 this year would be James Johnson; a driver seen mostly last season finishing 2nd in World GT. In single seaters he scored points in a Superleague, Supercup and Formula Challenge races and won the team Race of Champions.

Partnering Johnson and in car #2 will be Jonathan Holmes, a driver new to GPVWC but already lighting up the time sheets at this early stage. Holmes is known for his drives over at FSR the last couple of seasons.

Juha Tanskanen made a statement

"2013 was a very good year for Tanskanen Racing both on- and off-track. If someone would have told me before the season begun that at the end of the year we'd have achieved those things we did manage to achieve during the season I wouldn't have believed it. In light of all this I am very confident about 2014 season in general. We have a very strong driver line-up and our team is very well integrated so I'm positive that we're able to continue on the road of good performances that we were able to achieve, especially at the third and fourth quarter of last season."

James Johnson
"It was a great end to the 2013 season for me. It?s a privilege to be driving in Tanskanen Racing for the 2014 season and I'm looking forward to a successful 2014 season in Formula Challenge. I've got Jonathan as my teammate so it will be a very good challenge for me to try and beat him but we've bonded well and it's looking good and I hope that we can take Tanskanen to the next level and hopefully take the constructors. My personal aim like many on the Formula Challenge grid is to get the elusive Drivers Championship! but I also want to do the double!"

Jonathan Holmes
"So coming into the 2014 season of the Formula Challenge I am looking forward to be driving with VBMotorsports. I am very happy having James as a team-mate; we are pretty much at the same speed as each other, which will hopefully help us throughout the season. I'm hoping me and James can get some good results between us and try to gain some vital points in the Constructors title, as well as progressing ourselves in the Drivers title. This will be my first season in GPVWC but after some Pre-Season laps I am feeling confident of getting some nice results for the team.
Finally I'd just like to say thanks to the guys at VBMotorsport forgiving me the opportunity and picking me out of a vast majority of fast drivers! Bring on the 2014 season!"
