Spanish outfit bounce back after difficult opening race at Melbourne.

GPVWC Supercup 2015 season got underway in the Melbourne circuit (Australia). Positive SimRacing drivers Kevin Siggy and Luis Mesa finished in P1 and P2 in the preseason tests and there high expectations in the team for this first round.

Changing climatic conditions made the qualifying session very difficult. The wetness of the track changed during the session and all the drivers faced a real challenge to fight for the better positions of the first starting grid of the season. Both Kevin Siggy and Luis Mesa couldn't make a good enough lap under these circumstances, but they managed to start in P10 and P9, respectively.

First race started with a disconnection of Luis Mesa even before the warm-up lap began. Kevin made a good start, gaining several positions, but a technical problem ended his race in lap 2. It was a very disappointing and frustrating start of the season for the two drivers. It couldn't be worse? because this result in the first race implied starting from P27 and P28 in the sprint race.

With only 19 laps (and no pit stops) and starting in P27 and P28, only an epic race can make a driver finish in the top 10. And that's precisely what Luis and Kevin did in Australia. It was perhaps the best first lap ever for Positive SimRacing: Luis and Kevin managed to gain more than 10 positions each, not without some risks. The pace and the performance from both drivers was amazing. Luis and Kevin did a flawless race, with continuous overtaking and some provisional fastest laps, and they were able to finish in P7 and P9, respectively.

It was not perhaps the expected result for the first round, but what happened in Australia has been a shot in the arm for all the team, which is encouraged to close the gap with the leaders in the standings as soon as possible in the next few rounds.
