The Administration highlighted the criteria behind the selection of a very varied group of teams for the returning GT series.
After a hiatus in 2014, the World GT Championship returns with a competitive grid of 15 teams. The move to rFactor 2 for the series gave a chance to bring in some new outfits, as the Administration had to face an incredible demand for slots, with 25 applications received, ten more than the available slots.

"This situation led to some difficult decisions," explained GPVWC's Will Ponissi. "Each of the 25 entries would have been a good one, but we had to make a selection and we decided for what is hopefully a step forward for the GPVWC.

"Moving to rFactor 2 gives us a chance to test a few new outfit that have never been involved within our community before. In recent years, we have seen strong candidates for the Career Ladder emerge from the Independent Series and hopefully some of this new crop will prove worthy of making the big jump soon.

"At the same time, we had to keep into account which of the applicants had a slot in the World Sport Series and try and achieve a fair and balanced distribution of teams. We know a few managers will be disappointed, but we hope they will divert their efforts towards WSS and the forthcoming International Touring Cup."

The list of teams that will take part in the 2015 World GT Championship is as follows:

0-2 Torrent Motorsport (Porsche 991 RSR)
3-4 Walk Racing (Ferrari 458)
5-6 Aurora Motorsport (Porsche 991 RSR)
7-8 SimTech Jota Sport (Ferrari 458)
9-10 The Mighty Forth (BMW Z4)
11-12 Armaroli Racing Team (Ferrari 458)
14-15 Downforce iZone Racing (Aston Martin Vantage)
16-17 Scuderia Basilea (Chevrolet Corvette C6R)
18-19 Edonis Engineering (Dodge Viper)
20-21 Smile Power Racing (Porsche 991 RSR)
22-23 Hawkeye Racing (BMW Z4)
24-25 TSA Racing (Aston Martin Vantage)
26-27 Fox Racing Team (BMW Z4)
28-29 ST Racing (Chevrolet Corvette C6R)
30-31 PB Racing (BMW Z4)

Non-successful teams will remain in the waiting list; the GPVWC Administration will enforce attendance rules strictly and remove any teams consistently failing to attend events.
