Round four of the GPVWC World Sports Series, featured the jewel in the championship's crown, the two races around the streets of Monte Carlo!
With Risto Kappet and Walk Racing already leading the way in the championship, the goal was to have another strong evening of racing, and maintain, and if possible extend the championship lead around the unforgiving streets of the principality.

Each race thrilled the spectators to two races of 17 laps each, on a circuit where qualifying was crucial, with no room to overtake, and no performance differential between the Porsche GT3 cars.

Qualifying Result
3rd Risto Kappet
18th Cameron Brewster

Lining up a solid 3rd on the grid, Risto said after qualifying, "With 45kg this was actually a great achievement, only 0.4ec off my PB with that weight, but so close to pole, which might have given me great chance to win. I had great feeling before the race, I had superb pace and feeling a lot more revitalized! But the server within my game was not running very smoothly, which is vital in Monaco so it compromised my pace and comfort levels".

18th place on the 33 car grid, was a solid result in qualifying from Cameron, who was hoping for better things to come in Race 1.

Race 1 Result
3rd Risto Kappet
12th Cameron Brewster

Maintaining his starting position, Kappet commented, "I had a good start, but settled into 3rd. At the beginning of the race, I felt faster than guys in front, but Canapino had his usual spiky lag so I really could not approach him, and had to sit back and just keep my position. At the end, he found great speed and went to attack Lepassar, but unfortunately I fell into a string of mistakes, and couldn't keep up to take advantage of their fight. P3 in the end however is still very satisfactory with 45kg of success ballast".

Moving up 6 positions isn't easy at Monaco, Cameron described his race, "Race one went well considering my starting position".

Race 2 Result
12th Cameron Brewster
16th Risto Kappet

His second 12th position of the evening, Cameron said "Race 2, I let frustration get the better of me after having good opportunities, unfairly denied a good result, in my opinion."

Finishing a disappointing 70 plus seconds off the lead, Risto said, "I had a great start from the reverse grid in the midpack, but obviously had nowhere to go. For every corner of the first lap, I was bulldozed from behind and on the corner exiting to the tunnel, I had an especially well timed tap, which made me spin out. John Munro also got myself caught in the accident, bending every aero part and losing my front bumper. My car was about 0.5sec slower without the bumper so I decided to hold on and maybe at least get some points. But at some point I also bent my car completely so had to pit for damage, with the plan to at least do some fast laps near the end. However, the car was wrecked enough, and I was still be 0.5sec slower even with a bumper. Ended one place off a points scoring place but that is barely relevant anyway".

Championship Standings
1st Risto Kappet 93pts
7th Cameron Brewster 59pts

With Walk Racing leading the teams championship with a 30 point advantage, with 152 points!

We spoke to our drivers after the race,
Championship leader, Risto Kappet - "In general, it was a very embarrassing round considering the pace I had, but that's Monaco I guess! With Siggy having a disco and Canapino likely to have a penalty, it might not look too bad for the individual standings. Although Cameron did okay, definitely many points lost from the team side. Hope to keep the pace but bring the results for the next rounds!"

7th placed Cameron Brewster - "I came away, scoring points in both races. I just feel sorry for Risto though".

Team Boss Mr C - "Monaco was a hard race on my heart, as I love the track. But this is our worst result all season long, and we still scored points for the team. Thank you to my awesome drivers for their willingness to keep pushing!"

Round 5 is in two weeks time and from the Circuit du Giles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. Full pre and post race reports and analysis after the race!
