No more free cookies in the Epic Racing garage as Hoesktra promoted to Supercup seat.

Epic Racing team manager Lee Davidson has confirmed that Dutch driver Wopke Hoesktra will be leaving the outfit after the Austrian Grand Prix to embark on a full time drive in Supercup. Hoesktra has been the surprise package of Formila Challenge so far this year and has scored the lion's share of Epic points during their impressive return to GPVWC action. Davidson stated the following during the announcement:

"Wopke has been a fantastic driver for the team this year and I really couldn't have asked for much more from him. It is a shame he will be leaving us before seeing the season out, however his form this year has made this promotion undeniable, it would take a truly horrible person to deny him his opportunity he has worked so hard for. I'm certain he'll be a star for Mike Schroten's team during the remainder of this season, and future seasons to come."

Hoesktra will move to a full time SC seat with Measuric Racing after being their test and reserve driver so far this season. He has confirmed he will be with Epic for three more rounds before moving to Measuric for the summer break. He had the following to say:

"I have had a great time at Epic Racing and I am glad that I've played such a big role in their succesful comeback. I wouldn't have been this good if it wasn't for this great team though. They always kept me motivated, even if it didn't go too well in the races. In my opinion, Epic have already proved themselves now and therefore it's time for me to move on. My next destination is Supercup, Measuric Racing to be exact. As a reserve driver there, I've noticed their needs for a full-time driver and I also noticed that I enjoy the racing there a lot more, even if that means I'll be further down the field. I look forward to drive with Epic again some day, hopefully that will be in Supercup or Superleague though!"

Davidson has already confirmed that reserve driver Rob Mason will take over from Wopke for the remainder of the season, partnering Schroten, the Englishman had the following to say about his promotion:

"After recent strong performance in Formula Challenge, both in Turkey and Monaco, I'm delighted to be given the opportunity to race for the rest of the season. The year was meant to be about learning and improving, and to score points in my only 2 events of the year tells me I'm starting to get there. The rest of the year is still going to be tough, especially as now my expectations should be to look towards the top 15 rather than hoping for top 20."

The team has also confirmed it will not be making any announcements for its reserve driver vacancy until the summer break later in the year.
