Points scoring finishes for both cars in the feature and sprint races the silver lining on day where expectations were not met.
After a strong one-car showing around the streets of Monaco, Racing Aces PB welcomed Lewis McGlade to the line-up for Montreal. The English driver, currently racing in the Formula Challenge, was contacted by the team following Monaco and upon agreement with current driver, Adam Rouse, was offered the chance to sit in.

The #37 car continues to be a revolving door of sorts with regards to driver. McGlade is the fourth driver to be signed for it following Brackhahn, Hammer and Rouse. At this time, it is expected that McGlade is filling the seat temporarily while he focused on his Formula Challenge campaign.

Round Seven - Montreal

Philip Cullen:
Qualifying: 9th
Feature Race: 12th
Sprint Race: 14th

Lewis McGlade:
Qualifying: 18th
Feature Race: 13th
Sprint Race: 13th

Qualifying remains as tight as ever in the Supercup and while Philip posted a close to personal best, it still left him sitting on the wrong end of the top-ten. Lewis did a fantastic job to qualify within a second of the pole time, a great achievement given it was his first time in a Supercup event this season.

The Feature race started strongly for Cullen, who was in the midst of the battling back while the leaders sped away. However, a lock-up trying to overtake the recovering Matt Richards, and subsequent contact, left Philip spun around on the exit of turn one and falling outside the top-20.

Not for the first time this season, it was left to having a strong recovery drive through the field, enjoying battles with the likes of Adrian McNaughton as he moved his way up to an eventual finishing place of 12th position. The result ended a three race streak of finishing in the top-ten for Philip.

The Sprint race led to another uncharacteristic error for the Irishman. A miscalculation in the fuel left him having to run the majority of the race on boost two setting, an obvious disadvantage on what is very much a power circuit. His evening was spent admiring the rear end of the Smile Power Racing car of Dennis Jordan, never finding a way through. A late move into the chicane ended in failure and left him ruing a day of missed opportunity with a 14th place finish.

As for our newest resident, Lewis McGlade. He did his best to steer clear of trouble throughout the race. In both races, he engaged in duels with Positive Racing driver Luis Mesa as they battled it out for a points finish. It was a solid outing for McGlade, his first in Supercup this season and most importantly, marks the first occasion this season that the #37 car has come in the points in both races.

It was a day of missed opportunity for Philip, who lamented wasting a great car with unforced driving errors. While it was fantastic to have both cars finish in the points, back-to-back no doubt which makes for a great photo-op - it would have more satisfying to seeing both cars further up the field.

The Supercup circus moves on to Silverstone, the home grand prix for Racing Aces PB and many other GPVWC competitors. Hopefully home turf will be the inspiration we need to move back to where we want to be - solidly in the top-ten!
