Nordsjoen Racing announced the signing of David Fidock to partner Florian Geier for the 2016 season and beyond. The Norwegian team made the announcement at the recent GPVWC Day in Berlin, indicating it is serious about returning to the top.
Following the departure, on amicable terms, of long-term team driver Agustin Canapino, Nordsjoen ensured a classy act was hired to propel the team to further success. Fidock's signing represent the first time the team hires a past World Champion, with the exception of Joe Consiglio who made his return from a one-year sabbatical after winning the 2009 crown with the team.

In the history of the GPVWC Superleague, no driver has ever won the championship with two different teams and, with Philipp Puschke, the only other World Champion on the grid in 2016, expected to remain at Vod:Bul, the target may surely appeal to the English driver.

Fidock made his GPVWC debut with No Fear Racing in the 2012 Supercup before finishing second in the 2013 Formula Challenge (having missed the first two events) and winning the Superleague Championship in 2014.

Will Wangensteen Ponissi, Team Principal of Nordsjoen Racing: "It is a pleasure to welcome David to the team. He is a proven winner and he has demonstrated the ability to drive and succeed with every car and in every circumstance. Agustin Canapino did a great job for us over the last two years and we thank him for his contribution to get us back in contention for the Constructors' title: with David, we feel we can continue on our upwards trajectory and complete the job in 2016.

"David perfectly complements Florian Geier in the other car. The two know each other well and have been racing together for years, so I expect their chemistry to do wonders for the team. The appointment of this driver pairing represent another step in the refoundation of the team we have undertaken since the start of 2014."

David Fidock, car #19: "It is a great honour to be joining Nordsjoen for 2016. They're a team with a great history of success and I hope I will be helping to add to their impressive list of accolades. I am confident I have what it takes to bring them back to the top in both the drivers' and constructors' tables and achieve some great results together.

"I am excited about working with Florian again. He was a massive part of the 2014 title race [as reserve driver at CSG Racing], he knows how I like the car to work and we have a history of working together to push each other. We are also great friends outside the track, something which will help the atmosphere within the team."

Florian Geier, car #27: "I am grateful to Nordsjoen for the opportunity they continue to give me and I am looking forward to repaying the trust placed in me. We managed to end the year on a high in 2015 and I want to make sure this is where we start from Melbourne this year. The switch to a new gaming platform is a challenge for everyone, but at the same time it is an opportunity to gain an early advantage and start strong in this new era.

"Last year was an improvement compared to previous season, but as I start the second campaign for the team I am under a lot of expectations, not least from myself. Anything but upwards will be seen as a failure, but I know that David's arrival to the team brings a strong, committed and very quick driver alongside me. Our combination has worked well in the past and there is no reason why it wouldn't bring great results this time around."
