With the transition to rFactor 2, the main branch of competition here at GPVWC will feature a series of changes aiming to improve the quality of the show.
As the GPVWC Disciplinary Committee proceeds to complete the fully redrawn Rulebooks for the forthcoming season, many of the innovations included in these products have been announced at the GPVWC Day in Berlin.

From a formal point of view, there will be a full separation between Career Ladder and Independent Series from a license point of view: drivers will be allocated 10 license points in each, ensuring race bans and punishments are served in the branch in which they were accrued.

The much-discussed rule about Reserve drivers has been fully clarified, with drivers on a reserve contract only allowed to do a maximum of FOUR races in a series, regardless of the number of teams they compete for, before being forced to sign a primary contract. Owing to the reduced length of independent series, the limit on those will be of two races.

Emergency drivers will now be available for signing at any time, not only as fourth drivers, and teams will be able to nominate a deputy Team Manager as soon as the systems will be ready to accommodate this.

More specifically, in the case of the Superleague, new features will include the need, for teams, to devote part of their R&D points to the design of their 'next year' contender. The feature, which will be opened in May, will provide Managers with a new challenge as they balance the requirements of the current campaign with the need to prepare the next one.

Finally, the new engine system will see power units lose performance as they age, adding a strategic side to the management of the units by the team. Saving fresh, and therefore more powerful, engines for power circuits will become crucial.
