Woods Racing's Roy Schroten has decided to call an end to his career in the top tier of the GPVWC after three years in the main game of the Career Ladder series'.

It is with a great sadness that Woods Racing have to announce that Roy Schroten will be departing the Superleague at the end of this season. Roy joined the team for the 2014 season after a strong showing in the 2013 Supercup. He was able to score consistent points in 2014 and 2015, even with turmoil surrounding the other seat in the team throughout, and 2016 was a much improved year with two sixth place finishes. Nonetheless, Roy has decided to step down from Superleague after this race.

Ollie Woods, team principal:

"Roy has been an absolute rock for this team for the past three years. We've been through an awful lot of tough times together, from drivers leaving early on to problems with the car setup and a lack of competitiveness, and he's been instrumental in getting this team further up the grid this year. On a personal note he's a great friend of mine and I'm genuinely gutted to lose him - that said, I know his decision is the best for him and I hope he'll rediscover his mojo further down the career ladder. Everyone at the team wishes him all the best for the future, and he's always welcome back!"

Roy Schroten, car #9:

It has been a real honour to spend the last three years together with Woods. We have had a lot of lows during our time together, but this season was definitely the best of my Superleague career, scoring constant top-10s and a personal best 6th during the second part of the season. I am very glad Ollie trusted me throughout the years, but for me personally, it is time for a change. After such a great season together with Lewis and Menno, I feel like this is the right moment. I am not yet sure what I am aiming for next year, but it will most likely be somewhere in Formula Challenge or one of the independent series, but I am always open for suggestions! But for now, I am focusing on the final race and to make the best out of the opportunities I still have left in the season."
