Despite silly season talk of changes, the Norwegian team announced a renewal of the contracts for the three championship-winning drivers employed in 2016.
Consistency is a valued asset for Nordsjøen, the team being only one of two to complete the whole season with the same driver pairing in each round of the championship. In this light, it is no surprise that the long-standing association of David Fidock and Florian Geier is confirmed for a second season running, with David Jundt also retained in his role as test driver.

"David and Florian are two top-rate drivers who work extremely well together, and there was absolutely no time in which I had any doubts we wanted to continue with them," said team owner, Will Ponissi. "I have spoken with the guys after GPVWC Day and I am glad to see they are as hungry for success as the day when they first started. They have contributed majorly to bringing Nordsjøen back to the front of the grid and they want to continue building this team's history."

Rumours were swirling around Fidock's figure, with some informed sources suggesting the double-World Champion would hang his helmet up after a turbulent 2016 season ? only for today's announcement to dispel all doubt about his commitment for the new year. It was also confirmed that Fidock will elect to drive sporting the number one on his car, as opposed to #19 as in 2016.

"I am glad to also see DJ remaining with us for another year," concluded Ponissi, in reference to Jundt's reappointment as tester. "David helped us deliver the best car on the grid and has been instrumental in pushing the Martex engine to its heights. He's one of the biggest assets for our team and I'm delighted he's staying, even though he was hotly sought after by some of our direct rivals."

David Fidock, 2016 World Champion: "Nordsjøen is my home and I couldn't be happier to be staying here for another year. This team is filled with real passion for racing, from the manager to the drivers, and an incredible hunger to win. Even after the success of last year, that hunger is greater than ever - and it's the same for me too. It's just so much fun to be out there every race weekend, driving on the limit and fighting to win at every track, especially when doing this in the best car, with the best manager and best teammate on the grid. It was a no brainier to sign again for another year."

Florian Geier, third placed in the 2016 Championship: "I am thrilled to be able to start my third full season in the GPVWC Superleague with Nordsjøen Racing. I could not think of driving for any other team, knowing what a great bunch of guys we have here. We race hard and go through thick and thin together but also have some good fun along the way. I cannot describe, no matter how hard I try, how much it means to me to be able to represent these colours day in, day out. It has become my home in simracing and it will stay like that forever. United we reached our goals of winning both World Championships, my ambition since I joined two years ago. It has been a complete team effort and the goal is, of course, to repeat ourselves in the upcoming year."

David Jundt, test driver: "I am very happy to continue as a test driver with Nordsjøen, now going into my 3rd year. Furthermore, I am glad to keep working with David and Flo to provide them with a well-developed car. I am excited as to what our designers come up with in 2017 and look forward to the new season."
